This will be very difficult for her to recover from at her age and with her medical history. I knew when my mom fell and broke her hip that she was finished.

Ms. Ginsburg you are in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

How about you split the difference and pray for a long recovery that has her retiring next week?

Time to retire, Ruthie, while you can still enjoy your remaining years.

Now RBG's the biggest liberal on the Court,  and Thomas may choose to retire soon.   Thomas would, of course, be replaced by a strong Constitutionalist.    Replacing RBG with same would unleash the furies of hell.    Just wondering -  what if Trump were to promise to nominate Garland to replace RBG, in exchange for the House Dems dropping their impeachment investigations for both the President and Kavanaugh?    Is that a deal worth making for the sake of our polarized nation?    Or should both sides just go all in on absolute, total warfare?

Not going to be much of a war if we got 54 or 55 Senators to vote yes on Amy Coney Barrett.
The Republic is lost.

People that hold onto power too long eventually get their comeuppance. Ruth, it's time to retire.

Season 3 has begin with some interesting developments.
The writers threw us a couple of curve balls.
AG Session resigns at the request of POTUS and Justice Ginsberg is hospitalized with broken ribs.
I didn't see that coming, all in the first episode.

How do you "fall" in an office...was she trying to change a lightbulb?

Ask Joe Scarborough.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

My 89-year-old mother fell down a flight of stairs, cracking a rib and a vertebra or two. She died two months later. It's a very traumatic event for elderly people in poor health, like my mother and RBG.

I am sympathetic to Justice Ginsburg's pain and suffering. I certainly hope she will be able to recover, but also hope greatly she'll retire.

Ginsburgs 85, my Mom is 87 and if Ginsgurg is like her she has lost considerable bone density and may have balance issues. I t may be as simple as she lost her balance and fell against some hard furniture edge. I don't like her politics, but I don't wish her the pain and long term issues that will result from this.................then again, long term could be as short as tomorrow with someone her age.

Absolutely not.  The Democrats should be allowed to make total and utter fools of themselves by turning the House into a caricature of a toothless star chamber for the next two years.  I doubt if they could get actual articles of impeachment passed in the House, and even if they did, any such impeachment will be dead on arrival in the Senate.

And at any rate, if Ginsburg goes first, so that the Democrats get theirs first, the Democrats would never honor the agreement when it came to replacing Thomas.

No, that’s a bad deal all around.  The Democrats killed the 60+ requirement for judicial nominations back when they controlled the Senate.  It’s time to show them just how painful that act of arrogance will be to them.  Since Congress will not get anything else of substance accomplished in the next two years, McConnell should turn the Senate into a judicial nomination machine and crank out as many Republican-appointed judges as possible at all levels.

@Jazzhead

Only if he is a fool. The Dims will agree, and then file impeachment proceedings the day after Garland was sworn in.

@Jazzhead why am I not surprised you’d suggest some stupid crap like that.

Ask yourself this...what would the Dems do if the roles were exactly reversed?  They would cram the biggest lib they could right down our throats and tell us to suck it.  And that is why they have been winning the war while we win a skirmish or two.

And for the record there is NO reducing the polarization.  They will not allow that.   They are too close to their goal.  Gird your loins, counselor...they’re pushing the country to war and they won’t stop until they get there or we capitulate.

I dunno about that.

Perhaps she will finally see the light, and retire to spend more time with her family, but I sense that she still believes she can "outlive" Mr. Trump so that a democrat-communist can pick her successor.

Or it may be worse than even that.

Like McCain before her, she may cling to power so tenaciously that she will surrender it to no one except the Grim Reaper himself.

I believe it's the latter.
We shall see.

If Justice Ginsburg resigns -- watch for the fireworks to begin!

Actually, they didn't.   When Scalia passed,  they chose Merrick Garland as his replacement.  Not a Scalia constitutionalist, to be sure, but a judge widely regarded as a centrist, and whose votes on the DC Circuit were more aligned with Judge Kavanaugh's than you'd suspect.

Remember that Clarence Thomas has been rumored to be thinking retirement,  and it would certainly behoove him to do so during the next two years so a younger replacement can be named by a Republican.   Replacing a hard-core leftist and a constitutionalist with a centrist and a (much younger)constitutionalist is still a gain for conservatives -  and there are tangible benefits, in my view,  to lancing the nation's hyperpartisan boil.

I can understand people choosing to take the high road, but I would love to see her public service end during Trump's term, and the sooner the better and let her enjoy the rest of her life as a private citizen.
