stopping the "caravan" (Mob) from storming the border. What say you now?

It's the type of troops and their normal "jobs" that concern me.  It seems like they will be there to sort, categorize and relocate instead of keeping them from crossing to this side.

The type of troop? Did we send a pack of immigration lawyers and federal employees or did we send a bunch of military men who are trained in hand to hand combat?

I'm not so sure about that.  Right now there is a group of >7,000, but I expect it to fracture into a thousand groups of 7 or more, spread out for weeks.  If we have a nice, tidy clot of invaders a fire hose would be great, I just don't think that's the form the attackers will be in by the time they show up here.

I must admit I have no idea what effect adding these Regular Army units is going to have on this.  It hasn't been done before so I am more hopeful than I was in the Spring assault when we sent NG units to push paper.  We'll just have to wait and see.

Per an article posted in this thread yesterday:
"The troops are expected to perform a wide variety of functions such as transporting supplies for the Border Patrol, but not engage directly with migrants seeking to cross the border from Mexico, officials said."

I say it remains to be seen whether or not these troops and their mere presence at the border will actually stop any of those migrants from coming into America.  I still have my doubts.  Especially since Trump, himself, made the caveat that they wouldn't get in unless "legally".  That equates, to me, that they will be "processed" in that 'catch and release' BS program we have currently.

They are, but the optics of whites hosing minorities are poor.  You know the Birmingham footage and Trump comparisons to Bull Connor are ready across the media outlets.

Yeah. I read some of those unnamed sourced articles too. Does it make any sense to you that we would send troops to the border to act as Uber drivers?

It's not possible to prove or disprove what you are saying, we haven't sent Regular Army into this task before.  It's always been National Guard.  RA is not in the habit of announcing what they're going to do in advance.

Me either, but I am not privy with the governments of border states and what they are saying about allowing troops in their state. But the federal government has one job even the most libertarian among us would agree upon, To Defend the Country from Invasion.

I just know that we all become border states when they allow unchecked immigration of illegals. The American public kids itself when it notices a huge group of illegals but ignores that 100s of thousands are people are crossing yearly and it gets ignored.

What do I think, I think Trump's suggestion to militarize our border with shoot to kill orders would be all that is required to stop the flow to a trickle and it would save lives in the long run (kids dying in the desert). Shoot 10 people and save 1000s of lives in the long run.
