Eduardo Nunez with a man on and none out . . . whacks one to the third base side of the mound . . . Scott Alexander fields but throws awkward and Brock Holt---who had second on an earlier wild pitch---scores the go-ahead run. 2-1, Red Sox in the top of the thirteenth . . . .

With the bases loaded the Dodgers get a force at the plate for the side, but the Red Sox have a 2-1 lead and the Dodgers are three outs from falling into an 0-3 World Series hole . . .

With Muncy on first with a walk and Puig at the plate one out later, Puig grounds to second . . . Ian Kinsler makes the backhand grab but throws wild and Muncy scores the tying run . . . 2-2, two out in the bottom of the thirteenth . . .

. . . and after Austin Barnes flies out we are going to the fourteenth inning, tied at two!

The Dodgers get a one-out hit but nothing else and we go to the fifteenth still tied at two . . .

Three up, three down for the Dodgers, Nathan Eovaldi has worked his fourth inning for the Red Sox in relief so he won't be starting Game Four . . . Max Muncy missed a game-ending homer by inches before he struck out swinging to end an epic leadoff at-bat . . .

. . . and we are still tied at two going to the sweet sixteenth!

Dodger reliever Kenta Maeda in his second inning's work strikes out the side, and we're still tied at 2 going to the bottom of the sixteenth . . .

Three and three for the Dodgers . . . do we learn the truth at seventeen? Because that's where we're going folks . . .

A two-out walks comes up dry for the Red Sox . . . we go to the bottom of the seventeenth.

Nathan Eovaldi (Red Sox) the first to pitch five innings or more in relief in a World Series game since Madison Bumgarner in 2014 . . .

Three and three for the Dodgers . . . Clayton Kershaw pinch hit for Julio Urias and lined out but he made harder contact than a lot of his teammates lately

We go to the eighteenth inning, still tied at two, the Red Sox coming up, and the Dodgers bringing in Sandy Koufax (that's a joke, son, but Koufax is at the game . . . )

A leadoff walk, a broken double play, a consummated double play, we go to the bottom of the eighteenth

And, according to STATS, Inc., this game has taken more time to play than the entire 1939 World Series.

Still tied at two.

Alex Wood in the game pitching for the Dodgers, with Wilbur Wood, Kerry Wood, and Smokey Joe Wood warming up behind him . . .  wink777

You won't believe it but it's over!

Max Muncy hit a leadoff home run off Nathan Eovaldi, who pitched magnificently in relief, and the Dodgers win the game, 3-2, and the Series is now 2-1, Red Sox.

We'll see you tomorrow, when the starting pitchers are liable to be Orel Hershiser and Luis Tiant. (That's a joke, I'm punchy, we're a helluva lot of late so good night folks!)

I could only last until the 14th inning.
I had nodded off a couple of times before that.

I trailed off somewhere after the 15th...I think.

Great pitchers duel from both teams...someone had to win it.
