Ryan Pickrell

With an eye on defeated a powerful enemy, the US Army, Navy, and Air Force are teaming up to jointly develop hypersonic weapons for advanced warfare.

"The Army can get there the fastest. It will be in the field, manned by soldiers, and create the deterrent effect that we are looking for," an Army colonel heading the Long Range Precision Fires team introduced Wednesday.

I had to look that up.   Five times faster than the speed of light weapons.... wow.

Nice to see that our military isn't just sitting on their thumbs while getting deconstructed and decimated like during the Obama administration.

These hypersonic weapons are designed to overwhelm enemy defenses with blistering speed and provide the capability to strike targets where the time window is tight.

The contract, announced by Air Force Magazine among others, is in support of the Air Force’s hypersonic conventional strike weapon (HCSW) project, pronounced “Hacksaw.” Little is known about the HCSW project other than it exists.

According to Air Force Magazine there is a second, equally mysterious Air Force project called the Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon, or ARROW. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), meanwhile, is working on two other projects, the Tactical Boost-Glide (TBG) and Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept (HAWC), and the U.S. Navy has its own hypersonic programs.

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.
