CNN is shining a light on three of the “most consequential races” in 2018 — including the Texas bid for U.S. Senate — through debates or town halls in the coming weeks.

But Texans won’t get to see incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke of El Paso face off in this series.

“Sen. Ted Cruz (R) declined CNN’s invitation to participate in the town hall,” a CNN statement noted.

So O’Rourke will be featured in a live, one-hour town hall with CNN Chief Political Correspondent Dana Bash in South Texas on Oct. 18

So Stupid Cruz will have a pick up basketball game with a radical no talent hack comic but not debate with the guy who has a chance of kicking him out of his job? WTF?

He should do a VA fundraiser instead.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

To be clear, the Cruz campaign proposed that @CNN host one of the Cruz-O’Rourke debates. The O’Rourke campaign declined. @CNN subsequently offered back to back town halls, in which we are unable to participate.

There is that. Listening to him say over and over that he doesn't ask or know what political party anyone belongs to and how he wants to represent all Texans should discourage anyone for voting for the idiot.

So it looks like Cruz isn't able to attend. Also looks like CNN is giving Beatoff a huge in-kind campaign contribution.

He pretty much got the same royal treatment last night on Colbert.

Well, well, Beatoff is being pushed by the Communist Party.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/communist-party-backs-sinema-in-race-for-flakes-us-senate-seat_2675835.html

The Communist Party USA is involved in campaigning on behalf of U.S. Senate candidate Kyrsten Sinema, a Democrat from Arizona.

According to Joelle Fishman, head of the Communist Party’s powerful Political Action Commission, the party has injected itself into races “in two states where a Republican seat can be flipped: AZ (Flake open), TX (Cruz).”

From the Communist party website:
https://www.cpusa.org/article/election-2018-a-guide-to-united-action/
Congress:

In the House Democrats need  to flip 24 Republican seats in addition to holding on to the 194 seats they have to be in the majority.  We are involved in 38 Republican seats that can be flipped: AZ, CA – 7, CO, FL-2, IL-2, IA-2, MI, MN-2, NJ-3, NY-3, OH-2, PA-5, TX-3, VA-4, WA-2, WI.

In the Senate 24 Democrats and 9 Republicans are up for re-election, a total of 35 seats.  Democrats need to win 28 of the 35 seats to gain a majority.

We are involved in two states where a Republican seat can be flipped:  AZ (Flake open), TX (Cruz), and five states where a Democratic seat needs protection against being lost: FL (Nelson), IN (Donnelly), MO (McCaskill), NJ (Menendez)

Cruz is debating O'Rouke at three separate debates.  They turned down the offer of adding a CNN controlled town-hall format.

The first one is already done.  You can watch O'Rouke stumble and fumble through it at:

Has the second debate been rescheduled?  It was cancelled for the Kavanaugh vote.

Has the second debate been rescheduled?  It was cancelled for the Kavanaugh vote.

https://dfw.cbslocal.com/2018/10/01/cruz-orourke-campaigns-negotiating-to-reschedule-houston-debate/

...But when the vote was delayed Friday by at least a week, Cruz wanted to still hold the debate, but the O’Rourke campaign declined, saying it changed plans.

On Sunday night, O’Rourke went on Facebook Live, and Jeff Roe, the campaign manager for Republican Ted Cruz criticized him and the media in a tweet saying “If Ted Cruz had skipped an opportunity to debate before millions of Texans so he could cut a TV ad on Facebook while 6,000 people watched live, the media would rightly be lighting their hair on fire. Hashtag crickets for Beto.”...

...Two potential debates being considered for the rescheduled Houston debate are Sunday, October 14th or Sunday, October 21st.
Both Watson and Donovan say they’re confident the debate in Houston will be held.

Thus far, the next scheduled debate between Cruz and O’Rourke is Tuesday, October 16th in San Antonio....

A CNN sponsored town hall is about as near certain left wing ambush piece as money can buy.  Cruz was smart for dodging this sham.

  • All deserve a trial if accused
Cruz has given his full support to the President. It's important when a Senator fully supports the President.

Pence was just in Dallas fundraising for Cruz, Trump and son have both campaigned for Cruz in Texas.

Anyone can disregard facts, their views then, should be seen as incompatible with reality.

When I first saw this story, I was worried. Now that I think about it, Cruz is smart for not going to a CNN ambush. The audience will be stacked for Beatoff, he will be given the questions (and probably answers) in advance. It's a no-win for Cruz.

O'Rourke looks very foolish when debating Cruz so he wouldn't reschedule debate number two. I will be watching on the 16th.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Cruz isn't going to gain votes going on a CNN townhall. Beto may just hurt himself yakking for an hour and giving plenty of campaign commerical soundbites.

Cruz wants to debate. This is a townhall where the audience is stacked and the questions and answers are given to the fake Hispanic.

Just pointing out that Ted didn't have any problem with CNN's bullshit as recently as 2 months ago.

Somewhat of an apples and oranges analogy here.  Debating a topic against an anti-ideological colleague and opponent (Sanders) is quite a bit different that a campaign town hall ambush, where host (CNN) has a more vigorous agenda to unseat you.

I think Cruz realized that and opted out.
