They don’t know yet , but have been told to expect the worst.  Here is a flyover of the base damage.

I was hoping they'd bugged out, but I saw quite a few of our planes there.

Been viewing all kinds of video's. PC, Mexico Bch, Apalachicola.... What a mess.  If the damn thing could have just stayed a cat 2 it would have been a different story damage wise.

Oh well.

You gonna ride out another someday?

They got most of the planes out I believe some of the base structures were considered hurricane resistant so that might be why some planes were left inside those hangars.

If the target is to the east of me,  yes.   Otherwise...no way!

I sure hope no one rode out the storm in some of those locations.

My nephew got the word that 100% of base housing at Tyndall is in an unlivable condition, so they know their house took a hit.  They were told to stay in place and not return to base. His wife is so upset that she didn’t get any mementos when they bugged out. They only got important papers. They are worried that they are going to get transferred to another base now, too.

@LilLamb

I hope she does find those mementos she cherishes. Those are the hardest things to lose because they're irreplaceable.

Bible spared by Hurricane Michael

https://weartv.com/news/local/bible-spared-by-hurricane-michael

MEXICO BEACH, Fla. (WEAR) — One family returning to their home following Michael found whole walls missing and part of their roof blown off.

Marla Wood is an accountant from Atlanta. Her vacation home, close to loved ones, is nestled just across from the ocean on Highway 98 in Mexico Beach.

Her husband’s family owns the Driftwood Inn, which was wiped out, but Marla’s mother-in-law’s bible was unscathed! It was one of the few things Hurricane Michael didn’t destroy.
