Just cast my vote for Judge Kavanaugh getting him one step closer onto #SCOTUS. We spoke last night, and I assured him, I will be back to vote YES this weekend if needed. Looking forward to calling Judge Kavanaugh, Justice Kavanaugh.

I hate this "if needed" bullshit.  Get your ass back to Washington, period.  Things in the circus ring change on a dime.

Whats up with that guy.

His plan to walk with his daughter at her wedding was long planned.  If the wedding is early enough, he can fly in to DC in time for the vote.

Pence on standby in case his vote is needed

Vie President Mike Pence is in Washington this weekend, in case his vote is needed to break a tie, sources tell CBS News.

Pence, while he has expressed his support for Kavanaugh, has been less vocal in his defense of the nominee than has Mr. Trump. At a rally in Minnesota Thursday night, the president blasted Democrats for obstructing his nominee, although it was Republicans who requested the delay in the vote to allow for the FBI probe. The president also reiterated his defense of Kavanaugh on Twitter.

"The harsh and unfair treatment of Judge Brett Kavanaugh is having an incredible upward impact on voters. The PEOPLE get it far better than the politicians. Most importantly, this great life cannot be ruined by mean & despicable Democrats and totally uncorroborated allegations!" the president tweeted Thursday.

Pence is less vocal overall.

Folks, we're in trouble here.

Murkowski is out -- she will vote no, against confirmation.

That leaves 50 Republican votes left.

Flake the snake cannot be trusted, and I expect him to vote either "no" or "present" in the final vote. So, that's 49 Pubbie votes.
(aside: what's all this nonsense about Flake and Coons "talking together"? Sounds like "betrayal" to me)
Then again, I could be wrong, he could vote "aye". In that case, we win. But I'm not expecting this.

Collins will announce her intentions at 3.00pm. I don't trust her. No way to know what it will be until 3 this afternoon.

If Collins votes "aye", that's 50 -- Mike Pence breaks the tie for 51.
But if Collins votes "no", we're at 49, unless Manchin provides the needed vote.

If Manchin stuck his nose out once already against the democrat-communists to vote "aye" this morning, I'm thinking he will do so again in the final vote. That's 50 votes if he does. Mike Pence can then "break the tie" with his vote.

(another aside: if Manchin pulls through in West Virginia, he'd better switch parties. He'll be toast with the democrat-communists afterwards).

If McConnell suddenly pulls back from the final vote (which I guess will now be Sunday morning because of that IDIOT senator Daines going home for a wedding), you'll know "the votes aren't there".

I hope that doesn't happen. I'll take a 51-49 win. Or even a 50-49 win (I think this could happen if Flake votes "present").

But -- if it DOES -- will you start considering what I've been posting about a recess appointment, followed by a confirmation vote in January...?

OK, I'm surprised Flake did this, this changes the whole picture.

Let's assess:
Flake - aye
Murkowski - no
Collins - ??? (unknown until 3 pm)
Manchin - ??? (but looks hopeful)

51 (Republicans) - Murkowski = 50.

If Collins says "no", that's 49+Manchin = 50+Pence = 51.

If Collins says "aye", that's 50+Pence=51 (Manchin not needed).

People do realize that even if the Senate is tied 50-50, the VP gets to vote, right?

If, by "people", you mean Democrat constituents then no, they don't have a clue.

If Democrats had their way, there wouldn't be a vote.  Instead, they would be spending our tax dollars on barbed wire and cattle cars.

Their rhetoric eventually leads to a Final Solution.  I have seen this movie before.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

I'd say Trump has been more than "vocal" for both of them.  In fact, this is one time I wish he would shaddap.  We all know Trump supports his nominee.  Does he really have to go on Twitter or stand in front of his fans and spew  lot of vicious crap?

Perhaps if the great dealmaker had instead spoken to Murkowski and persuaded her to vote for the judge, the vote might not be as much in doubt as it is now.  Where is the leadership of the Republican Party?  Why can't they get their members in line?

1) Just to be clear on what @lisamurkowski voted for today:
--to legitimize and sign off on the most despicable tactics ever in a nomination.
--to stand with Dianne Feinstein, Cory Booker, Kamala Harris.
--to leave Judge Brett Kavanaugh subject to claims of perjury/impeachment

2)
--to abandon due process and presumption of innocence.
--to potentially leave High Court at a 4-4 deadlock, putting the loony 9th circuit in control of everything that matters to Alaska--development, prop rights, gun rights, enviro rules, etc.
Quite the statement.

She just voted against cloture though. Not sure why.

So...

According to the above, Collins is a "no" vote. 8 minutes to go.

That leaves Manchin.

Without him, we lose.
