Why Medicare for All is a rotten deal for most

President Barack Obama made a stunning policy shift Friday, endorsing Medicare for All — a single-payer health system for the nation. Most Democrats contending for the 2020 presidential nomination and many Dems vying for congressional seats this fall are backing it, too.

Beware: They’re pulling a bait-and-switch. The phrase Medicare for All sounds as American as apple pie. A new Reuters poll shows 70 percent of Americans respond to it favorably.

Yet the public isn’t getting the truth about what it means. The actual plan these Democrats are pushing doesn’t look anything like Medicare. They’re slapping the Medicare label on what will be dangerously inadequate health care.

For starters, it will rip away private health coverage from half of all Americans, including the 157 million who get their insurance the old-fashioned way — earning it through a job.

Conveniently, the Dems are forgetting to tell you that private insurance will be banned under their scheme, and employers will be barred from covering workers or their families.

"Medicare for all".

First, Fishrrman's credo:
Reality is what it is. It is not what we believe it to be.

It's only a matter of time, but the democrat-communists are probably going to win on this one.

The percentage of the general population that supports it is slowly, but inexorably, increasing.

On its face -- before a young American cohort that has been purposely dumbed-down through 40 years of Gramsci-inspired indoctrination by the public schools and colleges -- it's an idea "too appealing to oppose".

The other side -- OUR side -- has nothing that can substantially counter the emotional appeal of MforA. The arguments that "there's nothing in the Constitution" to support socialized health care based on a single-payer model will only cause a deer-in-the-headlights response from MforA's supporters, because such arguments are above their intellectual pay grades.

The Pubbies might have slammed on the brakes with an outright repeal of obamacare, but they couldn't muster the votes (at least McCain is dead and gone now).

IF the Pubbies hold the House and pick up a few seats in the Senate in November, they'd better try again next year.

My prediction is that without a repeal or at least significant rollback of obamacare, there will be nothing to stand in the way of passage of MforA within 10-15 years.
Or sooner.

Obama didn't make a "stunning policy shift."  I think as a communist he favored this so-called Medicare for All all along.  It's just that now with so many of his fellow Democrats on board with it, he can now drop any pretense otherwise and endorse it.

@Fishrrman   Republicans did not repeal Obamacare because they had no intention to do so.  Obamacare repeal was one of the many lies they told and false promises they have made since at least 2010 when they took over the House.   Make no mistake:  Republicans just as much as the Democrats crave the power over life and death of their "subjects."  And this so-called Medicare for All will give them all that power.
