Collecting Antlers In Montana  https://biggeekdad.com/2017/09/collecting-antlers-montana/#.W5Vqyy6l2QY.gmail

If you have ever gone looking for an antler that an animal has shed then you might be amazed to see how many Jim Phillips has collected over the last 60 years. He has found over 16,000 antlers that were shed by elk, antelope, and deer in the Montana mountains and stores all of them in a shed he built to hold his antler collection. He is sitting on a small fortune as every dog owner knows how expensive Elk Antlers For Dogs can be.

Nothing gets Jim Phillips going like antlers—lots and lots of antlers. But this collector is no killer. For the past 59 years, he’s been scouring the hills of southwestern Montana in pursuit of local elk, deer and antelope antlers that the animals shed each season. In that time, the self-proclaimed "Antlerman" has amassed over 16,000 specimens and built a shrine attached to his home to show off his impressive collection. For Phillips, the hunt for new antlers is a joy renewed with each hike through the hills and every discovery along the way.

And you should be very thankful for that, says the owner of feral hog damaged pastures and lawn...

It's on my bucket list to go hunt a hog down there... It'd be a weird combo for me - The only thing we run with dogs is cougar, and the deep brush, close quarters danger thing is bear...

All different ways to eradicate hogs.

I have a good friend that goes hog hunting every weekend.  He shoots from his blind, which is not far from his house.  He's been trying to kill one HUGE hog in particular.  It's over 250 lbs...  Funny that the more he shoots the more hogs it seems there are.  We are being overrun here in north central Texas.

Yes, I frequently see hogs (or hog sign) where I live.

Years back my friend Marvin called for help. He'd shot a hog in the Brazos River bottom close to Rosharon. He was in a ground blind and took a shot with his rifle. That just pissed the big boar off, who barreled towards Marvin. He unloaded his rifle at him and the hog kept a comin'. He pulled his 45 and dropped him at his feet. Another friend had helped him get him out of the woods and into his truck. I used my chain hoist to lift him out. We had no way to weigh him, but just the hide with gristle plate weighed 180 lbs. Hogs that big are no good to eat.

Another friend used to go on  guided hog hunts outside of Hondo. The guide was on horseback, the hunters on foot. On one hunt a big boar came out of nowhere, disemboweled and dropped that poor horse, and was gone.
