That paper has been deep in red ink for 36 years. Unfortunately for them, Mort Zuckerman, who's eaten the losses the past 24 years, is in his late 80s now and can't keep doing that. You can't even blame the Internet for this one.
The Daily News hasn't been a viable business for a long time. Their staff lucked out getting this far without major cuts.
Listening to the media, apparently they expect the owners to lose money forever whole they still get theirs, because it's the anointed profession of journalism.
