Top 8 “Shirt Pocket Pistols”

The Patriot Caller

For the shooter who already has every other base covered, or at least thinks they do, there’s one more surprisingly practical category of firearms left to invest in… what we like to call the “shirt pocket pistol,” the sub-sub-compact, if you will.

These diminutive little shooters don’t specialize in knockdown power, tactical prowess, or making an impression. They don’t specialize in anything but being small and lightweight, perfect for a shirt pocket. With this in mind, it’s easy to see why you might want one of these babies to carry around your property, shop, or wherever.

First and foremost, pocket pistols allow you to carry a firearm without the inconvenience of a holster. While some folks love feeling the weight of a Glock in their shoulder holsters, others find it totally annoying. In addition, should you ever need to pull it in a tense moment, reaching into a shirt pocket is far less obvious than going for a boot pistol.

The criteria for these pistols is very narrow. They must be small enough and light enough to comfortably fit inside a regular shirt pocket. What they don’t require, however, is long-range accuracy. These are a last resort self-defense weapon and little more.

So here they are, in no particular order: http://patriotcaller.com/top-8-shirt-pocket-pistols/?utm_source=MailingList&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=-OContent&Contact0LeadSourceId=-OContent

It looks like it would be slow to get on target and fire.

And very slow to fire more than 2 rounds.

Does it require 2 hands to function?

I would be afraid my wife would grab it to staple my sons homework together

It is not intended to be the best gun.

It is intended to be a highly concealable as it appears like a cell phone in the pocket.

The user needs to decide what feature is most important.

The original list included Bond Arms Derringer,  and the DoubleTap.  Both are two shot derringer type loading.  What is the difference?

Both derringers would be much faster than that "fold-up" gun.

Number 2 on the original list, North American Arms .22lr "Mini-Revolver", has a folding holster/grip that has to be unfolded to fire.

I'm not claiming it is the best conceal carry weapon.  But it gives yet another tool in carry that doesn't look like a gun to those that would care.

And for some people, that is a reason they would not carry.  So for those, this gun may reduce that concern enough for them to carry.

And a poor gun, beats no gun, every day.

I can't agree with that. Poor gun handling is a fast way to get killed.

A slow gun handler can get killed quickly by a mediocre knife wielder, or even bare hands.

Whatever you choose for self defense, practice to gain confidence and speed, is so important.  Why limit one's self-protection with a poor choice of weapon?

We will just have to disagree then.  Cheers!
