Duckworth on abolishing ICE: The problem is the president, not the agency

Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) on Sunday said she does not support abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
“[ICE] reflects the policies of the White House, of the president,†Duckworth said on CNN’s “State of the Union.â€
“If you abolish ICE now, you still have the same president with the same failed policies,†she said. “Whatever you replace it with is going to still reflect what this president wants to do.â€
Abolishing ICE is quickly becoming a test for Democrats following New York Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's surprise victory in the party. Ocasio-Cortez, who ran her campaign partially on the platform, sparked a wave of Democratic lawmakers, including Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), to come out this week in support of abolishing ICE.
