This ticks me off big time.  The entertainment industry ... at least most of it ... does not care about losing money or alienating conservatives.  They are on a mission from God or Obama.

CNN loses viewers by the boatload.  Jimmy Kimmel is only watched by his relatives.  They don't care.  I think this will bring huge protests.

ABC says it’s cancelling “Roseanne” following an “abhorrent” tweet from the show’s star.

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey announced Tuesday: “Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

The decision came hours after star Roseanne Barr drew sharp condemnation for a tweet on former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, whom she compared to a child of "The Planet of the Apes" and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Rosanne never was a Conservative. Her character was a Hollywood parody of what they think Conservatives are (unwashed, dirt poor, racists). She herself, has always been a nasty racist.

She tried to run for president in 2012, as a socialist.

Never will understand why celebrities, corporations, and politicians play around on Twitter. There must be well over 10 thousand famous people who have either ruined their careers or at least caused themselves deep harm by saying something stupid on Twitter.

And that doesn't even compare to how many millions of private citizens have wound up fired, divorced, or sued, by saying stupid crap on Twitter and other public sites. It's crazy. It is like playing Russian roulette.

I don't understand it because I've never been attracted to things like Twitter and Facebook. Not a boycott or anything about principle, I just don't have a need to out myself like that. And as it turns out, Thank Goodness for being weird.

It's not like ABC didn't know what they were getting with her.  Remember the pic of her making "NAZI Cookies"?

IMHO two things are at play here...1) the reboot of her show was more to make fun of Conservatives and Trump supporters more than it was backing them and 2) at some point she'll say she made the comment about Jarrett because she was channeling what Conservatives think about her anyway.

It was all done to bash Conservatives.

There was another case of a local comedian whose name was "Airborne" Eddy Dobosiewicz. He hosted a midnight movie show up here in Western New York and was a feature correspondent for another TV station in the market for about 20 years or so. Well, back in 2015, Eddy made a comment about the Baltimore riots and how the rioters were rampaging like, well, apes. Within hours, he was fired from both of his TV roles, and he has yet to be hired back. Roseanne likely faces the same fate.

Do such statements really warrant such extreme punishment? Even Colin Kaepernick could have his job back if he apologized, and I'd argue that his ongoing hostility toward the anthem is far more offensive to more people. Roseanne likely never will get that chance, not that we know that a provocateur like her ever would.

Well maybe. There was a wild rumor about a bait-n-switch scheme. Theoretically they were going get Trump supporters watching by being ~more or less~ conservative, and then do a turn about and slowly start quoting all the Liberal talking points about how Trump is a Nazi, Trump is a moron, and on like that.

If there is going to be a pro-Trump, or at least a Trump neutral, show on television, I'd certainly prefer not having to depend on Roseanne to be the face of it. So, maybe it is good it happened now?

It depends on the collusion. For example, in the NFL, even though each franchise is individually owned, the entire organization has the right to set standards for franchisees.

In other businesses, collusion would involve setting agreed upon prices, or agreeing or not to sell certain products (as an example).

I'm not really sure how either of those apply in this case as we are dealing with a decision by one network.

Anyone with any brains in this country should know it's not okay to equate black people with apes or monkeys.  There were years and years of tropes using this to justify slavery, dehumanize people, and on and on.  This is a specific racist theme.
