Well the Feds keep talking about bring back the dreaded Seat Belt Interlock system from 1974. The 70's bullshit was easy to disconnect, but I am guessing the new ones wouldn't be because they would run through the computer.

It will still be easy. Still either jump across, jump across with a resistor, or jump to ground. In the end, the mechanism has to be simple.

Yeah. Cars are SO much improved these days/SSSSS.

I gotta a mopar POS and I have to pull the motor off the mounts and transmission to change the plugs and wires in it.
My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.

I can't believe all this angst about the seat-belt law.  It is a good thing and I have no objection to people getting ticketed.

They are the same dumb asses that would want us to support their long recovery from head and neck injuries they got because they didn't wear their seat belts.

I wear mine all the time, because I have had too many bad accidents hit once by a stupid teen and three times by illegal unlicensed drivers, but I don't believe in forcing others to wear a seat belt............................unless they are in my car.

I've been injured badly four times, each time I did wear my seat belt, but not once did anyone else pay to support my recovery, the insurance I paid for covered it.

That's funny. When I read this article I thought of the same damn thing. They pulled that shit in PA years ago saying they would only bust people for seatbelts only if they did something else to be pulled over. All of a sudden people are getting pulled over for dirty taillights and crooked hood ornaments and then nailed for not wearing seatbelts.

Heh, I get even. Here in Oklahoma a seat-belt fine is $20.00. I charge the next police/court(prosecutors/judges)/government agency I work for $150.00 for each outstanding seat belt ticket not charged off.

I really love telling them 'Bout it...'Specially the Highway Patrol hall monitors. They are the worst 'Bout it 'Round here. The second to the last told me that "WE HAVE A ZERO TOLORENCE ON SEAT BELTS..." I stopped his speech and said "I have a zero tolorence of seat belt tickets"...that was after informing him of my policy ... what a nutter...just right me the ticket(usually I tell 'Em to right me as many as they want)...I make sure money off it. As I inform them.

The last one was a few months ago.. A Hi-Po with Bernie Fife/Big Badge syndrome. This one has been writing up a bunch of stuff. Anyways, he whipped around ..almost in town, to wright me a seat belt ticket. So on a 50 MPH two lane road with no shoulder I pulled over...one tire on the grass.

Effectively this gung ho Hi Po  blocked  a major two lane artery ... dangerous, and he almost caused a real accident with his crap.

Funny thing, as he wrote me a profit, he puffed up and said.."In my presence you will wear your seat-belt". Course, I just ignored him on that as it is a moving violation in Oklahoma. After a couple times he said that , Barnie backtracked and said.."When you pull out you will have your seatbelt on".

Being a respectful lawful abiding person..sure , I did.

That was months ago.. Gung Ho has passed me many time since..I do not wear a seat-belt unless I feel the need. I refuse a governmnet leash.

Oh yeah, he has not pulled me over these months...guess I let his ego know it's boundries.

That was the only place I ever saw it.  Most people just connected the seat belt under their asses (they were lap belts back then).  It actually made them wear their belts less, because once they were closed like that it was a double pain if you wanted to actually use the belt.

That is what I do. Actually connect it behind the seat. So i do not have to hear the chime. One interesting thing, on a F-350.... the passenger seat is exempted from that crap regulation.

IIRC Under the hood on the firewall they put a switch you could press to over ride the lock out.

So, not only does he want to make owning certain guns illegal, he wants to "buy them back" with *MY* money.  LOL  Seriously, he wants to confiscate my property and pay me for it with my own tax money.  bleep him.

This!

Poor people  who purchased their firearms legally.  Unfortunate for them that there is a record and the government knows who they are.  No problem for the criminals who have purchased them on the street.

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Pardon me, but your socialism is showing.

NO.  It is my common sense.  You don't have the 'freedom' to drive 70 in a 30 mph speed zone.  You don't have the freedom to run red lights or drive without a license.

This is just another law and a good one.

The socialism part is expecting the government to pay for the long recover from an accident wherein you refused to wear your seat belt.

We don't want to be killed, including by "kindness" or any other form of meddlesome do-goodness.  What we want is to be left alone to take care of ourselves without help we don't want or need from people like you who think you know better than we do.  I wear my seat belt because I feel it's safer, not because some government idiot tells me to, and I severely resent people who think they have some right to tell me what I need to do.

WAY too many damn laws. So it is not 'just' another one. LOTS of things are dangerous. NONE of the world is as ordered as you must prefer it.

IN FACT, in Montana, our best success with safety was when there were no highway speed limits at all. At that same time, if you felt you were mistaken for being too drunk to drive, you could pull off the road and throw your keys, and sleep it off. No ticket. No four thousand dollar fine. No suspended insurance. Somehow we did just fine without 'just' another law.

No, the socialism part is in the limiting of what people can do because of the aggregate cost to 'the people'. It won't stop. Like I said , be sure to wear your helmet in the shower just in case. Won't be long till your busybodies in the nanny state make a law for that too anyway.

Nope. That shit was Federally mandated for all 1974 passenger vehicles. I have a '74 Caprice Estate with it. AMC, Mopar, Ford, GM. They all had it. It is one of the few times that the Govt' felt a backlash and ditched it totally for '75. If you recall in '73 they just had the annoying buzzer that wouldn't stop until you put your belt on. There were pads in the seat foam.

Here is a brief history in a Mopar service bulletin.....

Thanks Frank.   The annoyance off that intrusive government nanny law came flooding back in waves watching that.  There was a whole cottage industry that sprang up with people offering to by pass the system.  On guy who worked at the local Ford Garage would come to your home and for 20 bucks disable the whole system.

Shoulder harnesses cut across my throat because I'm short.  The worst is the one in my brother's car.  I understand there are extensions you can buy.  I offered to pay for one for my brother's car, but he refused.

If there is an accident and I'm wearing one of those shoulder harnesses, I will either be strangled or decapitated.  So tell me again how seat belts save lives.

Well, in answer:  Yes.  Don't want to be the trigger man, but I would be fine with a mass expiration.  I'm a misanthrope.
