Royal wedding 2018 countdown: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are marrying tomorrow
CNET, May 18, 2018

<snip>

Give me some wedding dish!

The basics: It'll happen Saturday, May 19 at 12 p.m. UK time (7 a.m. ET, 4 a.m. PT) in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, the queen's weekend place just outside London. While we commoners can't attend, you can watch the pomp and circumstance unfold on TV.

The dress: Markle's gown is a closely kept secret, though we'll hazard a guess it won't be quite as conservative as Kate Middleton's gown from when she wed Prince William in 2011. Though some US fashionistas were hoping Markle would showcase togs by an American designer, the Daily Mail is reporting she's chosen a hand-stitched, beaded gown by Ralph & Russo, a London-based couture house founded by Australian designers Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo. Rumors are that the dress will cost the royals £100,000 ($134,000 or AU$179,000).

Harry's garb: Fewer people care about what Harry wears. It could be a simple suit, tuxedo or morning dress, but he has numerous military uniforms to choose from, including that of the British Army's Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals regiment. But it's frowned upon to wear that uniform with a beard, and the prince is unlikely to shave before the big day.

The tiara: Tiara watchers will be craning to see which diamond diadem rests on Markle's head. Some are hoping for the Spencer tiara worn by her late mother-in-law to-be, Diana, but that seems unlikely. The Cambridge Lover's Knot is a favorite, but seems to have been scooped up by Kate -- who is the Duchess of Cambridge, after all. The queen may simply have bought Markle a new tiara, as she did with Sarah Ferguson when Fergie married Prince Andrew in 1986, or have one created from already owned jewels, as was done with Sophie Rhys-Jones when Rhys-Jones wed Prince Edward in 1999.

The rings: Prince Harry designed his bride-to-be's ring to include two diamonds from his mother Diana's collection. The stone at the center is a three-carat, cushion-cut diamond from Botswana, a special destination for the couple. Her wedding ring is reportedly made from the same nugget of gold used for many royal brides in the past, including Diana and Kate. And Harry himself reportedly will wear a wedding ring, something his brother chooses not to do.

Meghan Markle will begin bridal procession alone, in bold feminist statement
CNN, May 18, 2018

Windsor (CNN) — Meghan Markle will make a striking feminist statement in her wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday, choosing not to be chaperoned for much of the procession down the aisle of St. George's Chapel, Windsor, CNN has learned.

In an unprecedented step for a royal bride in the UK, Markle will walk unescorted down the aisle of the chapel nave, after being met at the West Door by a member of the clergy. She will be accompanied in this first part of the wedding procession only by her bridesmaids and page boys, with the senior church figure walking ahead.

Prince Charles will join her when she reaches the Quire, where the main royal guests will be seated. The Prince -- Harry's father -- will walk Markle down the Quire aisle to the foot of the altar.

Oops! Palace Releases Official Royal Wedding Program — and Meghan's Dad Is Still in It
People, May 18, 2018

There are just a few more hours until Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot — and we now know how it’s all going to go down after the palace released the Order of Service Friday evening.

“Like any couple getting married, Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have taken a great deal of care in selecting all elements for their service,” Kensington Palace said in a statement released with the Order of Service. “This has been a collaborative effort led by Prince Harry and Ms. Markle.”

Here’s a breakdown of the lengthy Order of Service with everything you need to know — from the hymns to the vows.

1. There’s one glaring error.
The palace released the Order of Service for Harry and Meghan’s wedding just a few hours before they officially tie the knot, and it’s full of details about the couple’s big day. And the most noticeable element of the document? Thomas Markle, Meghan’s father, is still included as the person who will walk Meghan down the aisle to the high altar of St. George’s Chapel. The error, the palace says, is simply a matter of timing.

“The Order of Service was produced before it became clear that Mr. Thomas Markle would be unable to attend the wedding on medical advice,” the palace said in a statement. “As a result, some aspects will be different to what has been printed. As previously announced, Ms. Markle has asked The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of The Quire.

The palace confirmed on Friday that Prince Charles will be walking Meghan down the second portion of the aisle of St. George’s Chapel.

2. And a few timing errors.
There is also an error when it comes to the timing of arrivals: On the Order of Service, it says that Doria Ragland is arriving at 6 a.m. ET, but the palace says she’ll actually arrive at 6:42 a.m. It also says that Prince Charles will arrive at 6:42 a.m., when he’ll actually arrive at 6:45 a.m. (When it comes to the royal family, every minute counts!)

3. Prince Harry and Prince William will arrive at 6:40 a.m. ET.
They’ll be followed by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at 6:42 a.m., then Ragland, then Prince Charles, followed by the Queen, and finally, the bride herself.

The order of service for the wedding of Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle.

(6:25 ET) 11:25 BST: Members of the Royal Family will arrive at St George's Chapel. The congregation stand as the royals are taken to their seats

(6:40 ET) 11:40: Prince Harry and Prince William arrive at the west door of St George's Chapel

(6:40 ET) 11:45: Ms Markle's mother Doria Ragland arrives at the chapel

(6:52 ET) 11:52: The Queen arrives at the chapel

At the entrance of the bride, all stand.

A fanfare will sound at the bride's arrival.

I'm going to record it, but we're having a nonstop monsoon here and chances are the Directv signal will screw up.  I'll probably have to watch it online.  Is anyone going to be watching here, live?

I hate to admit this, but, yes ... my plan is to watch it live.  It's not too early .. I'm up at 6:00 am anyway, so I'll have BBC America on.

If I were the royal family, I wouldn’t want a US citizen in the family because all of
A sudden the IRS is going to be all up in their private business because all of the non-US entities in which they have an interest will probably have to be reported on a Form 5471, or Form 8865, or Form 8621, and the financials will have to be provided, and the income will become subject to US income tax even if it’s not distributed.

Nope.  First, there are information-reporting obligations, which usually depend on imputed control and have nothing to do with income.  Second, income would be imputed even if neither of them actually received the money, and even if they never would.  Every UK mutual fund they’re invested in would be a PFIC which could give rise to phantom income.

Having a US citizen or resident in a non-US family essentially means the IRS is everyone’s new best friend.

"Meghan Markle leaves hotel wearing tiara and veil to marry Prince Harry at Windsor"
