5 Reasons Congress Surprised The Satellite Industry By Adding Military Satcoms In The 2018 Budget

During the final stages of completing the omnibus spending bill for 2018 that President Trump recently signed, congressional appropriators added funding for two military communications satellites that the Pentagon had not requested. The commercial satellite industry was not happy. It has been seeking a bigger share of the Pentagon's global communications budget for years, and the unexpected addition of two more military satcoms makes that less likely -- at least in the near term.
