This dwarfs Obama's Porkulus bill that we all threw a fit about. All on borrowed money and raising the price on toll roads (which is a funny claim as those are run by the States).

Quote
President Donald Trump is going to Richfield, Ohio today to discuss his infrastructure initiative before an audience of "hardworking Americans" at a training site for members of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18.

In a report released on Wednesday, the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) said the president's proposal envisions using $200 billion in federal funds to spur at least $1.5 trillion in infrastructure investments. The report also discusses "congestion pricing" for roads and landing slots at airports, where tolls or charges would rise during peak use......

I wouldn't care about the size of the bill if it was fully funded without increasing the deficit and actually accomplished what it was supposed to do.  The former is definitely not true and the latter is historically suspect.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

@kevindavis

I think it’s called “Making America Great Again.”
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Not only that, but at the 47:30 mark, he talks about how Ivanka is working hard on infrastructure.  Apparently, Tiffany will also be there.  I guess that’s so the construction guys have someone to hoot at, catcall, and ogle.

It is all just pork. Any "investment" should return more than you put into it. Fixing a pothole, while nice, doesn't return a whole lot. New shiny bridges and signs don't return a whole lot.

This is just a variant of the broken window economic theory to employ people, not make them wealthier.

Ivanka and a Jack Hammer, It's been done, already

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Well, except that "Front end" I did not need to pay for.

Yes, "shiny bridges" return a lot...  ask what the Eisenhower return was.

It is about real infrastructure... or Solindra.

The be fair, bridges and tunnels to create and maintain commerce.  The problem with construction jobs, however, are the fact they’re temporary and scattered.

Yet, construction jobs are permanent.

Let this Simple Bricklayer elucidate some insight. The job is temporary, the craft/trade/need is permanent.

One would be wise..erudite to consider that construction is like eating bread. It is baked where it is needed. What are you starving for?

Not if there is already a bridge there that is meeting demand.

Many of these type projects replace an ugly old concrete overpass with a fancy one with fancy lights and architectural details - none of which add any financial returns. That is exactly what they did here in California.

Or a train to nowhere...

This is what he campaigned on to do.  This is no surprise. Maybe history will show this was a good thing to do, it's certainly new. It might work.

See the above comment.

Jerry Browns train project is costing something like $2,000 for every man woman and child in the state. And that is just the current estimated cost with only a tiny fraction of it complete... It is insane. It will not return the money invested in it ever.

That’s kind of my point.  If you do your job well, you’re not needed for a long time. The other bids and request come from an increasingly expanding area. The amount of opportunities you have is finite, unless you move.

Fair enough, last first as is my wont though. Really we do not differ much on this.. if at all.

So last first. Trains to nowhere don't cost much in the grand scheme of things. At most 1%. If that lubricates the
wheels.... meh.

Onto the second. Pretty/interesting is good,  cast concrete ... such does not cost much.

Last...if it is working.. probably will not be replaced.

Tiffany, the liberal princess?  There was a story on her a few days ago.

Wanting the GOP to be massacred.

At the Inaugural lunch Tiffany sat at the table with the Clintons and Nancy Pelosi.  Then Donald honored the Hillary and Bills presence there.

Which means America is going to like it. Because that is why the Mafia exist.... free market/sans government.

Giving the People what they want... even if Bush/obama don't want you to have it.

Except mafia contracts mean substandard materials, kickbacks, and no-show jobs.  Who wants or likes that?

Maybe the no show jobs. Meh...  overhead. the rest is BS. Even De CapoDe Capo has to drive on the roads built.

As far as no show jobs..... every system has them. Communist, Capitalist, Feudalism.... part of the game.

BTW, how bout that walkway bridge.

One of the things that really turned me off to Trump.  I saw another photo of her when she was young.  Bad photo looked like child porn.  She was somewhat dressed with very little and looked scared.

Which is probably a damn good thing.  If you can suffer through the hour long speech, listen to it and find yourself amazed how he has so little comprehension of the basics.  I found his complete lack of understanding about the Korean DMZ and judicial appointment process fairly enlightening.
