Laurel Canyon: Walking Through the Sixties' Nightmare! ~ The 70's Meaning of Life

355 views  Mar 17, 2024  LAUREL CANYON

Reflecting on the era's innocence shattered by the Manson murders, Laurel Canyon embodies the transition from idealism to horror.

Laurel Canyon is a rural suburb in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. It's been home to many musicians, including Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Crosby Stills & Nash, Neil Young, Carole King, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, America, and The Byrds.
Some say that Harry Houdini lived at the mansion at 2451 Laurel Canyon Blvd., but no one has ever lived there under the name "Houdini". Houdini scholars are sure that in 1919, the Houdinis stayed in the guesthouse at 2435 Laurel Canyon, but the house no longer exists today. In 1954, Charles Wilson died, and Fania Pearson bought the property with the intention of turning it into a girls school. In 1959, the Walker mansion and the guesthouse were destroyed in the Laurel Canyon fire.
The mansion has also been used as a recording studio by many artists, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, The Mars Volta, Slipknot, and Linkin Park.
