Guccifer 2.0, the “lone hacker” who took credit for providing WikiLeaks with stolen emails from the Democratic National Committee, was in fact an officer of Russia’s military intelligence directorate (GRU), The Daily Beast has learned. It’s an attribution that resulted from a fleeting but critical slip-up in GRU tradecraft.

This will add a lot of fuel to the Mueller fire if it is true. Never mind that Hillary used an illegal unsecured Email server for government business, including high level government secrets...

Sounds like some people were unknowingly active marks and dupes for this operation.  It sounds a lot like the language used in the Mueller indictment of foreign state actors some found so funny at the time.

Part of the scheme involved defendants posing as Americans and communicating “with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump campaign and with other political activists to seek to coordinate political activities.”

The story around this seems to be there was a foreign effort to gather and spread information to sew discord.  They were able to exploit certain people, due to the fact it was amateur hour in the Trump campaign.  That doesn't equate to active coordination and collusion.

What will become more important, however, are the actions subsequently taken by those who were played.  Providing misleading statements, hiding or destroying material in order to prevent looking foolish will amount to obstruction.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

Funny how there's little mention of that detail...

Weren't some of Guccifer's alleged hacking documents proven fakes?
