It used to be really hard on me, to the point I would delay, delay and delay.   Which caused even more problems.   

I started looking at it from a different perspective.   If someone isn't doing their job, and refuses to correct the problem then they are stealing from me and negatively impacting every other employee.   Impacting profitability hurts the pay of other people.   Hurts their bonus, hurts their benefits.

So by not firing people I was hurting my other employees.   That makes it easier.

I guess the thing that bugs me most about this is how Trump lets people go. I've had to fire two people, and both were the most unpleasant thing I've had to do in my career. One of the guys was outright insubordinate (in addition to incompetent), and even that one I agonized over. You think about them as a person, their family, etc. I can't imagine them finding out about it via Twitter. That is douchebaggery of the highest order.

This message finally hit home to me a few years ago when I let an employee go after only being on the job for about 3 months.  She knew it wasn't working out, and we mutually agreed to part company.  I then met with my team and announced the departure (expecting to get a proverbial pat on the back from them).  Their response:  "What took you so long?"  It was at this point that I finally realized that the employees really understand who's contributing and who isn't, and we do a disservice to the employees by keeping poor performing employees in place.

Exactly!  And, we're not doing the bad employee any good either.  Allowing them to continously slide doesn't help them in the long run. Now, if someone is having a run of bad luck and bad things happening to them, that's different.  I'll go a long way to help out a good employee who is having a hard time.

Kelly didn't just tell Tillerson the president was beyond pissed ... Kelly told Tillerson the President was firing him. 

Tillerson asked that the President wait until he returned to US soil before pulling the trigger ... and the President did just as he asked.

It was not unprecedented, at all. He pulled the same stunt while Comey was across the country. He can fire anyone he appoints (with the exception of judges) at anytime for any reason.  The manner in which he did it goes against every everything we’ve heard about him. That’s what no one wants to acknowledge – he’s not who he says he is and does not live up to the myth. The sooner people realize that, the better. He’s a massive fraud. This and other things he’s done have given us a peek beneath the very thin veneer.
