Blue wave may be building in Texas
By Reid Wilson - 02/27/18 06:52 PM EST

More Democratic voters than Republicans have cast ballots ahead of next month’s primary elections in Texas, in what some party officials interpret as a new sign that a blue wave is building ahead of the midterm elections.

The Texas Secretary of State’s office said 168,000 voters had cast ballots in the Democratic primary in person or by mail in the state’s ten largest counties through the end of Sunday. By contrast, 138,000 voters had cast ballots in the Republican primary.

Does this matter in a primary?  Is Cruz running unopposed on the Republican side?

No

Republican Candidates showing up in my county for US Senator are:

Bruce Jacobson, Jr.
Geraldine Sam
Mary Miller
Stefano de Stefano
Ted Cruz

None of these others have real possibilities to win, but it is not hard to file.

We hear this silly claim every election year for more than the past decade.

Reality, Texas hasn't elected ANY democrat to ANY statewide office since 1994.  Tell me another state claiming to be a republican stronghold that comes close to that election record.

Sure we have our liberal pockets.  Like all states.  But when you get past the talk and count the votes:

I'm on the ground canvassing and also a precinct chair.  The Dems are way more enthusiastic than we are.
But that graph at the top of the thread says it.

Unfortunately, this primary has been pretty ugly on the Republican side.
The races between Bush/Patterson and Miller/Blocker have been.
Kathaleen Wall has a lot of money behind her, supposed to be Pro-2A, grew up on a farm, etc., but upon scrutiny, she seems to run from Q and A sessions at her events, causing some heartburn in her district.
