I will concede that.

Speaking at a summit in Abu Dhabi, Bush criticized President Trump’s approach to the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects undocumented immigrations who were brought to the U.S. as children from deportation.
“America’s their home,” Bush said of DACA recipients.

That's been bothering me since I first read the article.

Why the hell would Abu Dhabi give a damn about DACA? Do they even know what it is? Do they care? I can't figure out why GW would bring up that subject to a group of billionaire Arabs. It's confusing to me, and likely to them as well.

Why not discuss something more relevant? Like America renewed energy production. Or America taking over the world's oil production. Now that would be something they could relate to.

Good point.  Just how many refugees are they taking in in Abu Dhabi??

Poor Dubya, out on the big-dollar lecture circuit, and absolutely nothing to say
By Monica Showalter

The Associated Press is trying to make hay out of a non-issue, highlighting that former President George W. Bush is somehow at odds with the Trump administration over the issue of Russian election meddling.

Yep.  And, apparently it's very easy to fall for what AP is putting out.

I'll bet the Emirates are pretty strict on immigration and it is probably one of those places where one hears Philippine, Indian or other foreign workers being exploited and even abused.

They don't take any but that's not the point.   Illegal immigration weakens the target nation.  That is their point.  A weaker America is good for the Muslim calaphate.

@Sanguine

What's important is that Bush is speaking out against the current President.   This is at least the third time he's done that against Trump.   I don't think he ever did it against Obama.

He's also doing it overseas to a foreign nation.

I'm one of those who admired Bush for his handling of 9/11.  But the rest of his presidency was a bit uneven.  He did have a few good ideas -- privatizing SS for one -- but he could never get the corrupt slackers in congress to go along.  A lot of us were looking for another Ronald Reagan, but George bush wasn't it.    And neither are Trump and the rest of today's Republicans.  Such a person of Reagan's caliber doesn't exist.

That all said, I have a problem with family dynasties.  I may like some members of a particular political family, but really, enough is enough after the first one gets to the top.  We've had 2 President Bushes.  We don't need any more.  And the two who did serve should just go away quietly.  Enjoy their retirement.  Get involved in charitable endeavors.  But please stay out of politics.

Oh and tell the younger generation to learn a trade or something.  We don't need the kids, grandkids, nephews or whatever running for office too.

Same goes for the Kennedys.  Go away.

That is common in all M.E. countries. They bring girls over from very poor parts of the Philippines, Malaysia, India, and others, and then use them as work/sex slaves. I saw a Chinese restaurant which had all female Asian workers. I found out later that the girls would work all day, 12 hours or more, and then were sold by their boss as prostitutes all night. They were essentially working almost 24 hours a day.

Considering just how terrible he was, I am not so sure of that. Without W to run against there would
be no Obama.

It does appear that George was born with a silver foot in his mouth.

Yep...Ann Richards said that.

To extrapolate that further...  Without W to run against there would
be no Obama.  Without Obama there would be no Trump.

We had Obama because Soros paid for it.  Also because McLame and Romney threw their election.

OK, show of hands:  how many of you actually read the article before you commented?

I didn't. Probably nobody did.

Fortunately, I didn't read any of the posts on this thread as I made a recent resolution not to argue with idiots and I might have felt compelled to break it.

I call BS.  Bush didn't trash Trump.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

I did!  Almost always do!  I agree with you, too.

I did not like the way President Bush handled a few things, but my first thing was a month or so after becoming president, he messed with the steel market.  That alone proved to me he was a globalist.  I did not like that one bit.

He trashed Trump's meme and credibility about the "Russians didn't meddle in the 2016 election".  The only thing they did was hack into the DNC, thanks to John Podesta falling for a phishing scam.  But the actual election was NOT meddled with.  So yeah.... he trashed Trump by refuting Trump's correct stance on the issue.

McCain did more than throw the election. He was actually campaigning for Obama to win. I saw first hand in Cincinnati. He gave what was supposed to be a campaign rally for him, but all he did was talk about what a wonderful 'opponent' he was running against and defended Hussein against accusations of being a Muslim and the birther issue.
It turned out to be an Obama rally.

I got the distinct and heavy impression that McCain was trying to become Obama's VP. Or, maybe he was shooting for a cabinet post or something. And I sincerely, really, believe that McCain voted for Obama. I believe that. That is just how deferential he was to Hussein. McCain worshipped the guy. Just the Dems did.

We all know now why that makes perfect sense.

Remember, he was much better than the democrat.

Yes.  We MUST remember - it is a binary choice, the evil or the lesser evil.  So we went with the lesser evil, because that is our minimal duty.

Even when they reveal they are Democrats in GOP clothing.

I do find it interesting that Bush was absolutely and utterly silent for 8 years - not a freaking peep out of him.  And then, he goes to comment publicly in contradiction to official WH policy on foreign soil.

Leaves one having more conspiratorial confidence that a Deep State Oligarchy consists of the Republican and Democrat leadership.

So assassinating someone's character (or literally) that their Mafia organization does not want upsetting their corruption system should be expected at the stage of our decline.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

But the Russians did meddle in the election.  They were helping Hillary.  It was the AP that brought up Trump's statement, not Bush.  And the two statements are simply not comparable.  This is nothing more than an AP fake news hit job.

How, exactly, did they meddle?  How did they help Hillary?   Specifics, please.
