Sessions calls for â€˜fresh startâ€™ for FBI

Attorney General Jeff Sessions says that the FBI needs a "fresh start" to win back the confidence and trust of the American people after two years of controversy surrounding the FBI's investigations of Hillary Clinton and President Trump.

In an interview with The Washington Examiner published Tuesday, Sessions was asked to respond to the resignation of deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who left the agency last month following months of criticism from Republicans.

â€œWell, I have believed it was important to have a fresh start at the FBI, and actually, it was in my letter to the president when I recommended Comey's removal," Sessions said. "I used the words, 'fresh start,' and the FBI director is Chris Wray, a very talented, smart, capable leader."

Congress created the monster in 1908. There were trepidations back then of a nationalized police force being against the idea of our governmentâ€™s founding. Only Congress can truly â€˜fixâ€™ it, but they never will.

No fresh start at the FBI possible without first establishing why one is necessary. People need to know what went wrong or it'll just happen again.

The US marshalls are a nationalized police force and where created right after the Nation's founding.

They werenâ€™t a police force, in the traditional sense. Their scope was very limited, mostly to judicial process serving and fugitive apprehension. The idea of a national investigation unit was not well received at the time. Unsurprisingly, Teddy Roosevelt, a progressive, was highly in favor of it.

Lobbying against the bill, Roosevelt wrote to Speaker Joseph Cannon, asking that the problematic sections be killed. Regarding the Secret Service provision he argued that it would â€œmaterially interfere with the administration of justice and will benefit only one class of peopleâ€”and that is the criminal class.â€ In a handwritten post-script, he added, â€œthere is no more foolish outcry than this against â€œspiesâ€; only criminals need fear our detectives.â€

That last sentence has come back to bite.

There may be a few lower tier democrats get sent to prison for their parts in this fiasco but I sincerely doubt any of the top tier, Madam Clinton, Comey, Obama, etc., will have to sully their hands on prison walls. That is, however, the only way the FBI has a chance of getting integrity back - prove they are more loyal to America than to the democrat party and the swamp. But I don't see that happening since I'm sure both political parties have dirt mortars ready to fire at each other when needed. BIG dirt mortars which would end the political ambitions of whomever they are aimed. So the higher ups will decide to kick the can down the road until they are no longer in danger.

I suspect that you are correct there. There really is two separate and different justice systems in this nation now. One for the elitists, who are above the law, and one for us, the ones whose taxes pay their salaries. A really skewed and fubared situation. And something I'm sure the founders are roiling over in their graves over (among other things)..... since they did their level best to ensure that would not happen re: the Constitution. But they didn't figure on so many opponents of America ruling and ruining from within, I guess. And perhaps the level of intelligence back then was higher.... and the founders never expected people to be so stupid as to vote that "enemy within" into high office. Sad, that.

Sessions is no laughing matter. He needs to be FIRED yesterday and put someone in his place that is willing and capable of handling the matter with the utmost integrity and start putting people in place to clean house.
