Trump nominates Liberty University professor for DOJ job
By Brett Samuels - 12/19/17 10:17 AM EST

President Trump plans to nominate a Liberty University professor to serve as the administrator for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention in the Department of Justice, the White House announced Tuesday.

Caren Harp is an associate professor at Liberty's School of Law.

Liberty University is an evangelical school run by Trump supporter Jerry Falwell Jr. The president gave the school's commencement address this past May.

If approved by the Senate, Harp would oversee the department responsible for developing juvenile justice programs

It's fashionable to criticize George W. Bush right now, especially among the ignorant and proponents of revisionist history.

George W. Bush was an excellent President.  I hope we get another man that good again.

Right now, the political climate is so ugly that a nice guy couldn't survive.

That's why we need Trump.

GWB was an excellent son, a miserable President, and there's nothing "revisionist" about his true legacy.  I hope we never see the likes of him again ... especially posing as a Republican/Conservative.

Myself...., I love/loved George W. Bush as POTUS, but I can see that his penchant to team up with with daddy and Bubba and their love of New World Order.....leaves me cold.

G. W. Bush is the only person ever to occupy the Whitehouse that I was personally acquainted with and, to this day, I blame his failures no the bad advice given him by the likes of Karl Rove and Karen Hughes.  He often ignored his own instincts and went with theirs to his great detriment.

I'll always wonder if his strong faith is responsible for his wanting to carry on his dad's "New World Order".

Why would you join in the Bush bashing?

It's required for a certain level of Trump adoration.  For Trump to be god of all, everyone else must be diminished.

I'm glad you're not there......

Name-dropper!!

The last thing we should be doing is fighting the George W. Bush wars, but I refuse to let baseless and ignorant criticisms of him go unresponded to.

His main fault was actually his personal goodness and optimism.  While Obama wanted to kill America by letting muslims roam the earth here, Bush believed in the inherent goodness of human beings and it led to his failed policy of nation building.

Not sure why the very mention of the name George W. Bush brings out the rage of the major Trumpers here.  It's almost as bad as mentioning Ted Cruz.

No, GWB did not actively support Trump and who can blame him.  Trump was positively evil to Jeb Bush, which was okay because Jeb was an opponent.  But Trump went after all the Bushes, a mean and unnecessary thing to do.

Now, looky here.  I'm a Trump supporter on this forum.  I've liked almost everything he's done so far and I'm willing to ignore some of his lack of class and meanness.

For the greater good, as they say, I support Trump.  He's been treated horribly by the press and by some of our fellow posters.

Posters can certainly go that route if they choose, but I hate the press and the dems 100 times more than anything Trump can do right now.

But ... what is the point in bashing a decent guy like George W. Bush???

But ... what is the point in bashing a decent guy like George W. Bush???

You're looking at it as a personal attack on Bush 43, rather than a warning of how disappointment can come from either side, even if they're a person espousing faith.

Case in point from another Republican letdown....

Discussing the expansion with reporters in June 2013, Kasich said he had told a lawmaker, “When you die and get to the, get to the, uh, to the meeting with St. Peter, he’s probably not gonna ask you much about what you did about keeping government small, but he’s going to ask you what you did for the poor.”

Answering a question about Obamacare at a campaign event last October, Kasich said, “When ya get to see St. Peter he’s not gonna ask, ‘Did you balance the budget?’ He’s going to say, whether he’s Peter or whether he’s Jacob, ‘What’d you do for the least of those?'”

Actually, what Kasich is suggesting here is that somehow individuals can fulfill their obligation for obedience to Jesus’ commandments through government action.

I don't blame the mods.  They have a difficult balancing attack between permitting free speech and coming down on utter nastiness.

I was on another site and a couple of people there were complaining about TBR.  Apparently, they had been subject to abuse and been banned.  I like those guys and have no idea of what happened to them.

The thing about this site is that there are some people here who are so negative and downbeat that I want to kill myself.  There are also a lot of people here who cannot make a point civilly without insulting other posters.

I may well be guilty of the insult part.  I try not to but, maybe not hard enough.

President Bush had his good and bad points, like any other president -- and most of us, too, for that matter.

One positive is that I am grateful he was president right after 9-11.  Can you imagine if Obama had been president then?  He would have been apologizing to the terrorists.

Unfortunately, President Bush was a victim of bad press that made him into the monster and incompetent he really wasn't in order to pave the way for the media darling, Obama.

W was a terrible president. We've had a string of horrible presidents starting with LBJ, the
only decent ones were Reagan (and he had serious faults too) and Trump. I'd rate Bush
as almost as bad as LBJ and Obama. Worst republican president ever.

His biggest mistake among many many policy mistakes was invading Iraq. That huge blunder
set the middle east on fire and has lead to most of the Islamic problems we and Europe are
having now.

And why did W invade Iraq?  Weapons of mass destruction?

No that was a lie, an excuse, the real reason was Bush family payback. Saddam tried to kill daddy
Bush so Jr used the US military, the full force of the US government to take down Saddam. He
put family business a head of the safety and security of the United States of American and it
citizens. I have zero respect for George W Bush. People are still dying today because of him.

Reason number 62 to thank Donald Trump; he cleared the field of John Kasich. What an annoying scold he is. I couldn’t imagine four years of listening to him pontificate from the Oval Office.

Brings me back nightmares of catechism with Sister Rosalind and her quick draw ruler.
