Levin: Mitch McConnell & the GOP establishment lost Alabama
« on: December 14, 2017, 04:09:16 am »
Whatever happened to the calls for McConnell to step down??  He really needs to go.  He continues to do more damage than good to the party.

Levin: Mitch McConnell & the GOP establishment lost Alabama

............On his national radio program Wednesday, Levin laid the blame for the party’s loss in the Yellowhammer State squarely at the feet of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and his surrogates for their "character assassination" and attacks on Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., during the Republican primary.

It’s time that conservatives took down the GOP smart set and its “pseudo-conservative media” lackeys, Levin said. McConnell should have stayed out of the special election and "treated the people of Alabama with some respect," said Levin.....

The signal that McConnell and the Republican Establishment sent, is that if the plebes do not vote for their selected choice to fill a seat, and choose instead, someone they cannot count on for Establishment loyalty - they will make sure the Democrat wins.

And the easiest and least inexpensive way to castrate Conservatives is via unprovable Bimbo allegations, preferably many decades in the past.

Because better for the oligarchy if Democrats hold the seats than for a potential Conservative and non-establishment player becoming a cog in the greased wheels of Corruption that run the Fleecing Operations of the country.

McConnell's been playing that game for years; this time though it was blatantly obvious (at least to most).

Sorry Moore lost Alabama.

So you're perfectly comfortable with McConnell and cronies keeping incumbents out of their Senate country club if they aren't RINO's and using $$ from the NRSC to do so?  I'm sorry Moore lost Alabama as well and I feel that the impact on the Senate that Jones is going to have will be devastating to Trump's agenda, especially when McCain passes (he's currently hospitalized) and I'm sure Mitch is already 'scouting' for his replacement.

I guess Mark is forgetting the transitive property of elections.  If Mo Brooks could not get past Roy Moore, how could he win the next round?   :pondering:

I've seen articles on Hannity this morning, in likelihood, the so-called GOP-e would not have liked Brooks as well; all of the same, Strange probably would have been fine as well.

Yellowhammer news, news from Alabama:

Quote
“Moore lost because he abandoned any semblance of a real campaign,” Jackson told Yellowhammer News. “He didn’t face any tough questions, and it made him look weak. Talk radio is hardly a hostile environment for him, and he only went on shows where he knew they would be overly friendly. Roy Moore lost this election, we can blame the media for allegations or the ‘swamp,’ he didn’t fight, and he lost. He needs to concede and go away a beaten man.”

Other talk show hosts detected Moore’s weaknesses in this arena as well. At the opposite end of the state, News Talk 106.5 morning and mid-day host Sean Sullivan described Moore as “uncomfortable” in radio interviews.

“Roy Moore did a couple of interviews with me but seemed uncomfortable with the idea of being on talk radio,” Sullivan told Yellowhammer News. “Moore and more importantly his campaign didn’t, other than boilerplate emails, communicate with me and I imagine other show hosts. With the maelstrom surrounding his campaign I was surprised he didn’t use talk shows in Alabama more often to counter the attacks and clarify his message.”

So, who knows but I think the people of Al should have something to say about this.

Yup.  'Twas no one's fault but his own.

And yet, he still almost pulled it off.  Yes he certainly deserves the bulk of the blame, but he still could have won if his party had his back.

The GOP made it very clear right after the Primary, they were not going to support Moore at all.  The voters were told immediately that they made a big mistake in making him their nominee.

The moment the allegations of misbehavior 40 years ago miraculously surfaced in the Compost when the General got underway, McConnell was out of the gate telling him to 'step aside', along with the bulk of the party.

Moore was abandoned by his own party with funding yanked from him before the General ever got seriously underway.

Of course I personally think Moore was an idiot to assume he would ever have their support to begin with.

Infantile papal decrees and fatwas of some here aside, Moore did make some tactical errors. All candidates do, some win in spite of them.

That pales in comparison to the hit job and the total lack of GOP support, if not outright hostility and undercutting by the Swamp GOP.
The Republic is lost.
