Former Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort Charged in Russia Probe

The former chairman of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has been told to surrender to authorities on charges including tax fraud, according to people familiar with the matter.

Paul Manafort is expected in federal court in Washington, D.C., later Monday, one of the people familiar with the matter said.

Mr. Manafort is the first individual charged in an investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, a former FBI director.

The indictment was returned on Friday against Mr. Manafort and one of his associates. The indictment is expected to be unsealed later Monday.

"Gates is a lesser known figure, who worked with Manafort in Ukraine and participated in Moscow flew to Moscow for meetings with associates of Oleg Deripaska, a Russian oligarch who paid Manafort and Gates tens of millions of dollars, NBC News has reported."
