Yeah how dare the vice president go to Indiana.  And double dog how dare he make a stand against unpatriotic actions.

@txradioguy

I've noticed that some on our side who would have rightly condemned Obama for pulling this same crap are willing to give Trump a pass if they're angry enough at the target of the stunt.

My husband works damn hard, and not to pay for Trump's attempts to win points with his base.

It's ok...he didn't rent a private jet.

Trump says he directed Pence to walk out of game if 49ers protested during national anthem

Cindy Boren

The plan had been for Vice President Mike Pence to attend the Indianapolis Colts game at which Peyton Manning's number is to be retired, a gala celebration of the former Colts quarterback's contributions to Pence's home state.

The former governor of Indiana and his wife, wearing a Manning No. 18 jersey, left Lucas Oil Stadium after the national anthem, following instructions from President Donald Trump after a number of San Francisco 49ers players took a knee during the anthem.

Continued at: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/politics/ct-pence-49ers-colts-national-anthem-20171008-story.html

So how about this, this was maybe not a mere stunt,

This game was the one where Peyton Manning's jersey was going to be retired; that would be a big deal in Indiana and Indianapolis; so, surely, Pence already had it on his schedule to go.... so things just worked out this way.

So, maybe not a waste of taxpayer dollars in that manner, he was going, perhaps as the story reads, Trump directed Pence to skidaddle if some of the Niners (or other players, Colts) knelt.

These pro-teams have special ceremonies like this fairly often.

@driftdiver

A stand is fine if he doesn't use taxpayer money to do it.  Look at that tweet he sent out.  It was a deliberate (and dumb) attempt to pull the wool over people's eyes.

Pence and Trump have made their stands verbally, haven't they?

Yeah, and maybe it was.  Go look at the tweets I posted earlier in the thread.

@CatherineofAragon

I read those tweets, 2 or 3 times, some journalist says they were told their press van should wait for the reporters or something? It doesn't prove much.

Not use tax money to support patriotism.

Now that's an interesting concept.

Only proves that it was a pre planned publicity stunt...at tax payers expense.

So basically no one is bothered VP Pence flew from Las Vegas to Indianapolis. Seemingly for the staged walkout. Now he's flying back west to L.A for a fundraiser!
@kevindavis

Yes, it was a stunt.  Trump tweeted he asked Pence to go and leave.
We footed the bill for the plane to leave Las Vegas, go there to walk out, then go back to the west coast.

We don't have a president - we have a kook making chaos every day which he will do every day until he is no longer on earth.

A cheap pre-planned stunt is patriotism?

I didn't know it came that cheaply.

It was a pre-scheduled event,  no stunt costing the taxpayers additional money, scant evidence offered of this. This was a date set months ago, to retire Manning's number, if the Niners didn't kneel, Pence would have been there the whole game.

Not if this was on Pence's schedule for months ahead of time which apparently it was.

Pence was governor of Indiana and Representative of Indiana, it was probably a big deal to have some dignitaries there.

Preplanned since 2014?  Because that's the age of the photo he tried to pass off as taken today.

He had a statement ready to go when he left the stadium.

Yet knowing that, you still believe.  It's really incredible.

Encouraging respect for the flag is patriotism.

Or perhaps your real issue is the left is losing on this issue and that bothers you.

Question. Did the network show him leaving or mention it? Or did this break later?

By the way, Seahawk Michael Bennett ends his sit down. Entire team stood for the anthem.

Point being made is the pressure being applied is begining to work.

Work how?  Has it really changed what's in these people's hearts and minds?

Mike Pence, “I left today’s Colts game because President Trump..." told me to.

I am laughing at the ridiculousness of Fed Gov giving enough of a crap about NFL to stage a walk-out.  But what's funnier is the people defending it like it's some miraculous thing of beauty.
