Trump pledges $430,000 of his own money to help cover Russia-related legal bills for associates
by Daniel Chaitin | Oct 21, 2017, 2:18 PM

President Trump will provide some financial assistance to campaign associates and White House staff facing steep legal bills amid various Russia investigations.

A White House official told Axios that the president has pledged to spend at least $430,000 of his own money, which is the estimated amount the Republican National Committee has said footing the bill for lawyers representing Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr.

However, the unnamed official said that the president is not reimbursing the RNC.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
This is decent. One way the Dems destroy people is to tie them up with legal bills they have to pay out of pocket, a situation which can be devastating, economically, without ever having been charged with a crime. It is a way to inflict punishment on someone without charging them with anything.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
