Former Army Ranger Is Only Steelers Player To Stand For National Anthem [VIDEO]

The entire Pittsburgh Steelers team remained in the locker room during the National Anthem, with the exception of one player: Army veteran Alejandro Villanueva, who plays offensive tackle for the Steelers.

While the rest of his teammates remained in the locker room, Villanueva stood in the tunnel holding his helmet in his left hand, and holding his right hand over his heart as the anthem played.

I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish.  Before all this, I couldn't tell you who the guy that started it played for.  So nothing's changed from my perspective.

Not by Steelers fans.

No, but by many of his fellow players.

I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish.

That is my question. If it has to do with police violence or black pride or what have you....why don't I see positive actions OFF the field? There maybe some under lying message I'm just not smart enough to see.

The original protest by Kapernack (sp) was to get attention, imho. He was benched and had to do something to stay in the spotlight.

I watch very little football these days. I will continue to watch the Cboys because...

#1 There is a bet at work and a Babes chicken dinner rides on their winning. I love me some Babes.

#2  I have despised Jerry Jones since he came on the Dallas scene. But made a pretty definitive statement about this behavior...to the affect of...not in my house. First time I have ever agreed with him.  If he allows this, chicken dinner or no  8888crybaby, I will turn them off.

#3 Prescott seems like a stand up guy and I want to see how he does.

The NFL fans need to stand behind this player and show their support.  Would be nice if they started a twitter and facebook storm in support of him, in fact.  Not holding my breath for that to happen though.  People that love football need to get a grip on the reality that the left is attempting to destroy US football (another American tradition being targeted)....and by politicizing every damned thing in this manner....they will probably succeed, finally.

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

This is getting wayyy out of hand.  Now we have what appears to be a majority of Football players refusing to stand, yesterday a Baseball player with the Oakland A's did it, with Basketball sure to follow.

This shit with Baseball had better stop, and it better stop right now.  It will do at least as much damage to the sport as the Strike, because this time it will be the fans who go on Strike, even Democrats.

Its hurting the league's bottom line...and until individual teams start losing money the owners with a couple of exceptions won't put their foot down.

But right now the NFLPA is being run by a man to the left of Obama and Van Jones.

I'm not surprised we're seeing this with the current players union leadership.

The union could stop this. Sadly they are encouraging it.

Steelers Coach Didn’t Want Army Vet To Stand For Anthem [VIDEO]
Daily Caller, Sep 24, 2017

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indicated Sunday night that he did not want offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva to stand for the national anthem, instead of sitting it out with the rest of his teammates.

Villanueva, a former Army Ranger who served three tours in Afghanistan, was the only Steelers player to stand for the anthem. While Villanueva stood in the tunnel, hand over his heart, the rest of the team remained in the locker room in protest of President Trump’s comments that players who kneel during the national anthem should be fired.

Tomlin said in a post-game press conference that he was looking for “100 percent participation” in whatever course of action the team took during the national anthem.

No, but by many of his fellow players.

He's a 6'9 offensive lineman who has come face to face with the Taliban...i doubt he's gonna be too concerned about some loudmouth SJW in the locker room.

Oh and thank you Mike Tomlin for giving me yet another reason for hating the Steelers.

Yeah, I was talking more like the social pressure, such as just evidenced by Tomlin.  It can be intense.

Ahhh ok.

Yeah Tomlin is going full @sshole now.

But hey...at the end of the day...I know a team in Dallas that can always use another offensive lineman if they give him too much crap in Pittsburgh.
