Trump's Spending Deal Funds Planned Parenthood
« on: September 20, 2017, 01:34:38 pm »
The spending deal that President Donald Trump cut last week with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)--and that was passed by a Republican-controlled Congress—breaks one of Trump’s unambiguous campaign promises: It funds Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

Fiscal 2017 will end on Sept. 30 and the spending law Trump signed Friday will essentially continue federal funding from that date through Dec. 8 at the same levels and for the same purposes as the legislation currently funding the government.

That means both Planned Parenthood’s Title X and Medicaid funding can continue into fiscal 2018, which begins on Oct. 1.

This is the third spending deal President Trump has signed that funds Planned Parenthood.

The first was a continuing resolution—H.J. Res. 99—that Trump signed on April 28 to keep the government funded for one week. The second, which Trump signed on May 5, was H.R. 244 (the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017”) that funded the government through the end of fiscal 2017 on Sept. 30.

The third was the continuing resolution he signed Friday. This law will allow the federal government to keep spending money into fiscal 2018 as it has been under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017—and was combined with a measure to provide $15.25 billion in recovery money for hurricane-stricken areas as well as with a measure to suspend the legal limit on the federal debt until Dec. 8.

<snip>

Congressional sources familiar with the spending deal enacted Friday confirmed that by continuing federal spending until Dec. 8 under the terms set in the previous spending deal continued funding of Planned Parenthood is permitted.

The spending bill passed the Senate by an 80-17 vote on Thursday and then passed the House on Friday by a vote of 316 to 90. President Trump signed it Friday.

Using this logic, anyone who is against the GOP health care replacement bills is against Planned Parenthood being defunded. Trump and the GOP have put out plenty of pieces of legislation to defund Planned Parenthood, let's not be hypocrites now. Some call those bills "Obamacare lite"....

The only one being dishonest is you.  Despite your repeated and blatant lie about Donny...he continues to fund PP with nary a thought about his campaign promise.  And he's more than happy to let rubes like you continue to make him out to be something he's clearly not.

DACA...Planned Parenthood and Obamacare arae all FULLY funded in this CR that magically expires right before the Christmas recess.

Guess what the Congress is going to quickly pass and Trump will happily sign the second week of December.

You're proof positive there's a sucker born every minute.  Those proposed pieces of legislation you pin your hopes on...mean nothing untilthey are passed by both houses and signed into law.  Until then it's just a fantasy.

Trump isn't anti Planned Parenthood.  He's got no problem keeping them in business.  Otherwise he'd have vetoed the CR's with the funding for them in there and told COngress to send him a bill without the funding.

We have already had 3 bites, at least 2 bites at the apple, two times to defund Planned Parenthood; most of the people against the health care bills Senators come up with then, are in effect, for the continuing funding of Planned Parenthood.

I see no pro-life organizations denouncing Trump over this.  I will go with their word. The budget is only funded until, December 8th it sounds like.

Senator Cruz to his credit, voted for that last health care bill. We can say he is being pro-life then, those against that bill, we may say are the opposite. They are against the "Obama lite" healthcare bills, so they want Planned Parenthood to continue to be funded if they are going to be such nit-pickers.

And Trump signs it.  He takes ownership of it at that point.

Actions speak louder than mere words.  And Trumps actions in regards to Planned Parenthood shows what you repeatedly claim is a a blatant falsehood.
