Constitutional Carry Question

So it looks like I'm heading to Kansas probably by the end of the year.

I just learned that Kansas is a Constitutional Carry state.

I've got my CCDW permit for Kentucky...would it be a good idea to go ahead and get one in Kansas as well or just not worry about it?

Pretty much don't drive through Illinois.  If you get stopped there and don't have the gun locked up with the ammunition separate you will be charged with a felony.

By saying I'm "headed" there...I mean I'm moving there...leaving Ft. Knox and my new duty station will be Ft. Riley Kansas.

I used to drive through and just watched my speed, no stops, not even for gas.    After reading they charged a guy with a felony because he had a firearm in his car I won't even drive thru it again.

As I understand it, the main reason to get a Kansas concealed weapon permit if you wish to carry outside the state in those states that honor the permit.  As a non-resident of Kentucky, you are not eligible for a Kentucky CCDW license, subject to revocation.

I was able to get around the non resident thing by showing them a copy of my orders.  It's the same way I'm able to purchase my guns here.

So it looks like I will go ahead and get my permit in Kansas since I still plan on doing some traveling.

But once you leave Kentucky for Kansas, you won't be able to retain the Kentucky license.

Ahh ok I see what you mean.  That's the "subject to revocation part".  Gotcha.
