Very appropriate.  "Amazing Grace" (with bagpipes).

I was reading Glenn's bio, he won some Dove awards, that means Christian music. I will look into that later. I think that was mainly in the '80s.

Wow! Great thread! I listened to everything except for the ones with bagpipes because I despise bagpipes! Turns out I agree with Alfred Hitchcock when he say of them: “I understand the inventor of the bagpipes was inspired when he saw a man carrying an indignant, asthmatic pig under his arm. Unfortunately, the man-made sound never equaled the purity of the sound achieved by the pig.”

One of the things about Glen was that he could cover a song and, for the most part, you don't even mind that it's not the original. Sometimes it's even better.

This is an interesting analysis of the song, "Wichita Lineman."

Wichita Lineman
Steyn's Song of the Week #306

by Jimmy Webb
August 13, 2017

Glen Campbell died last Tuesday at the age of 81, and I blush to realize that his only appearance in these columns to date has been a parenthetic reference in our Sinatra Song of the Century #77:

"Strangers In The Night" had a huge impact on the guy playing that "chinking rhythm guitar", too. He was a fellow called Glen Campbell. At the time, he was a session guitarist with no particular interest in singing. "I'd never really paid that much attention to it, because I'm really a musician at heart. Singin' was, like, secondary," he said. "But when I heard the way he phrases, I said, 'Wow, that's really cool.'" Playing the melody along with Sinatra, he started to notice the way the singer pushed certain words and held back on others. He was so fascinated by the vocal technique he couldn't take his eyes off Frank. At the end of the session, Sinatra said to Jimmy Bowen, "Who's the faggot on guitar?"

A couple of years on, and Frank didn't need to ask that question. The guy making eyes at him had become a bona fide pop star...

Everly Brothers medley, Glenn performed with a lot of folks because he had that show.

Thanks for this post, @TomSea. I know all the young girls were ga-ga over David Cassidy, but Glen held far more appeal to me than David did. His appeal is something I noticed as I was "rediscovering" him since his passing. He has moved into the hubba-hubba category for me, and a big part of that is because he was never overtly sexy. Another part of his appeal is his taking responsibility for the disaster his life became and then setting forth to turn himself around.

I thought the medley and doing the Everly Brothers, more favorites of many, was good. I wasn't really paying that much attention to personalities. It would be interesting to know every performer he played with.

I watched the Alice Cooper interview too, I think that was posted under interviews. According to Alice, the two played a lot of golf together and he had a few things to say about their friendship.

After reading your post, I went to check out the Alice Cooper interview. It was so interesting. Who could have predicted what good friends they would be?

I agree that it would be interesting to know who all he performed with. In my YouTube viewing sessions, I've been amazed at the number of varied artists he's sung with. Here's just a partial list I jotted down while listening to his vids. Not exactly a shabby list of entertainers. Notice they cover many music genres. The man was remarkably talented.

Sarah Vaughan
Chuck Mangione
Jerry Reed
Dinah Shore
Ray Charles
David Gates
Barbara Mandrell
Dean Martin
Carol Burnett
Smothers Brothers
BeeGees
Dionne Warwick
Andy Williams
Johnny Hartford
Linda Ronstadt
Beach Boys
Ella Fitzgerald
Dolly Parton
John Denver
Nancy Sinatra
Florence Henderson
Donny Osmond
Juice Newton
Roger Miller
Willie Nelson
Stevie Wonder
Johnny Cash
Cher
Mel Tillis
Bobbie Gentry
Leon Russell

I saw on the magazine rack, a special commemorative magazine on Glen Campbell. Some might be interested in that.  There may well be others, often LIFE comes out with these kinds of magazines. I believe this was more of an independent source I saw. Glossy, probably costs around $10.
