I'm going to play Devil's advocate for a second.
He's keeping them spitting mad. When they are mad, they act like idiots (Angry people do stupid things), come up with fake news, bite on any bait, froth at the mouth angry commentary, etc. The result is that they lose credibility with all but those who desperately want to believe, who also end up frothing at the mouth in sympathy. Effectively, it turns his real opposition into howling maniacs and gibbering idiots.
Now, in a way, that's good. It hurts their already questionable credibility.
In a way, it's bad, because if they stumble across some actual impropriety, no one on the Right will listen, and the left will be doing their usual nonsense and no one will give it any credence. As a result, we lose the watchdogs who would bark at the slightest provocation, and that only leaves the 'loyal' media left, at least in teeveeland and the dead tree media, and they might just gloss over anything not wanted in the narrative.
If the news is all about the tactics, and not about what's going on, that 140 character smokescreen becomes an impenetrable fog. Whether that's good or bad depends on what is actually going on in there.
