Trump calls Comey 'cowardly' and suggests he acted illegally

President Donald Trump on Sunday called former FBI director James Comey's disclosure of their conversations "cowardly."

"I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible. Totally illegal? Very 'cowardly," Trump tweeted Sunday morning, though it is unclear as to what he meant in the use of the word "prevalent."

During a testimony to Congress on Thursday, Comey said after he was fired, he shared the content of memos he wrote after his one-on-one meetings with Trump to a colleague to give to the press. The former FBI director said he did that once the president began tweeting about a possible recording of their meeting.

Throughout Trump's presidency, the administration has been plagued with a number of leaks coming from the White House — certainly not unprecedented in Washington history but still an issue, nonetheless.

It's not clear that Comey did anything illegal by disclosing details about his behind-closed-door meetings with Trump.

Prior to that tweet, the president also accused media outlets of not reporting on "great economic news" that has happened since he was elected (including the months before he was sworn in).
