Their feelings may be hurt, but proving damages for defamation will be quite a hurdle for the family. I don't know what Hannity has said (because I never listen to him nor watch him on TV), but I doubt he said anything truly libelous about the family - nor about the deceased. I guess we'll see.

Generally speaking, in a free society where possible political assassination is concerned the public interest trumps the wishes of the bereaved family.

It should be allowed to play itself out one way or the other.

As a matter of law, I believe "the people" will prosecute murder, regardless of the wishes of the "family."

Hannity has a pretty good name all the same, he's pushed this, Newt Gingrich seems to have mentioned it. They are putting their names on the line and they'll really look silly if there is nothing to this. To me, Hannity would lose virtually all credibility if this story has no legs.
