Speaking to the Bundestag this morning, the German Chancellor said Brexit talks will put a strain on Britain and Europe.

Hours after Prime Minister Theresa May said she wants a "deep and special relationship" with the EU, Angela Merkel warned Britain not to be deluded over negotiating a future relationship before Brexit is finalised.

Well, ol' Angela is falling back on the time tested, honored, and storied tradition of liberals everywhere when they have nothing to offer - prophesy gloom, doom, and the end of life as it is known.

Getting out of the EU makes business between the countries more difficult.  My son, the documentary film maker who lives in London, can go to these countries to film without mountains of paper work before he can go.  When England is out of the EU, it will be more difficult for him to go into these countries.  It will be that way for all business.

Maybe he can make a documentary on how it sucks to be him with England out of the EU.

It's going to cause a few minor inconveniences in our household. Mostly nipping over to Italy or Holland to see the in-laws will become a real drag and sorting out the money flows from the various family businesses will be more difficult, but the wife'll go back to being a resident alien as well. That will cause problems if I'm not retired by then - the Crown doesn't take a kindly view of it's officers being wed to foreign nationals, and she refuses (with my 100% support and agreement) to take British citizenship.

Waiting for someone to remind Merkel that the EU has a rather large preferential trade agreement with the Commonwealth - via the UK. They'll be losing that if she gets pissy.
