I am not surprised that in a closed habitat like the space station, a strange fungus would grow

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Great book, great movie.

The movie was damned good.  And IMHO, the book was even better.  And it was one of those rare instances where seeing the movie first didn't wreck the book.

Oh, and for the record, the mystery of the fungus is what variety and how it arrived in ISS.  It is most certainly terrestrial in origin.

There are living organisms that were purposely introduced onto the space station.  Humans.

You are one that believes there 100% of all parasites, bacteria, fungi and mold can be removed from the human body?

Like I told the kids when they came of age. Raincoats! It only takes one little Herpe.

We have a bunch of critters we carry around which perform useful tasks, and are even necessary for our health. That's just us. Anything else that comes in can become contaminated and it doesn't take more than a spore or two.

The space station is also an elevated radiation environment. That leads to mutations in those little single cell organisms.
