At least as far back as the administration of Jimmy Carter, the immigration debate has been waged by globalists who have, over time, succeeded in hijacking the language and terminology applied to immigration.

Consider that Jimmy Carter: Orignator of the Orwellian term "undocumented immigrant," understood that by removing the term “alien” from discussions about immigration he could, over time, subvert the debate by confounding the public’s understanding about the entire immigration issue.

Before the 2016 election, the conventional wisdom was -- especially by a number of posters right in this forum -- that Americans didn't and wouldn't object to an "immigration reform" that would legalize the tens upon tens of millions of illegals here.

That was, and remains... a lie.

Americans' frustration with illegal immigration and the refusal of the government (and many REPUBLICANS) to do anything about it was in my opinion the primary reason that Trump won.

Americans WANT "a wall". They WANT enforcement and deportation of [at least] illegal lawbreakers. I sense that while most Americans will say they have nothing against legal immigration, that many are fed up with the immigration/refugee system altogether, and wouldn't mind a "time out" for a few decades to absorb those already here.
