She has that Jackie Kennedy touch with the wardrobe, maybe even better at it, but then that's what she knows.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Her designer best described it; she exudes gracefulness.

Well put. And what a contrast with the previous title holder.

Dressing Melania: Alice Roi Talks About Designing to Suit the First Lady's Classic Style

....."I think Melania has already begun to have an influence on fashion. There is nothing sarcastic about her style, nothing experimental. It is very true and solid. Her style is straightforward and traditional, but not dowdy or heavy. It remains light, elegant, clean and almost above-it-all. I guess the best word to describe it would be 'graceful.'"

@libertybele

That dress---at least I think it's a dress, it looks too light to be a coat---isn't my favorite.  I think the big full skirt is overwhelming on her, in a way.

According to the article it's a coat dress.

I agree with you.  But I bet it would be fun to twirl in it.

A great 'twirling' dress!  Not so sure I like those shoes with it though.

I agree.  A nude pump would be much better with the white dress.

White pumps would have been lovely or gold strappy sandals to match the belt.

I like them, but I like a statement shoe. She can pull it off. Mooch and the chrome wheels? Not so much.

I totally agree @libertybele .

If the belt had been red, the shoes would have been perfect. Besides I think you can twirl better in flats, in my humble opinion.

I wonder if she's humming "I feel pretty" in her head. I sure would in that dress.

Bleh. She needed a pop of color with that dress and belt.

Don't make me take you off my "like" list.

@Frank Cannon

 :tongue2:

Hey, I love color, and I like the way you used "pop of"----very knowledgeable.  But I don't like that salmon-y color.  A nude pump is great with white or anything else, even black.

Sarah Palin could have classed up her White House outfit a little if she'd picked those instead of the hoof covers shooties she wore.

The media would still be opining if Melania had worn these shoes with this dress and belt @CatherineofAragon :   :laugh:

(That color pink wasn't the best choice ....  )

I hate those things worn with skirts or dresses.  They cut a woman off right at the ankle and make her legs look stubby.

They look neon to me....I know they can't be, but in that light, it's how they come off.
