MCKINNEY — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will appear in court Wednesday morning to argue that his three fraud charges should be thrown out.

According to the presiding judge's clerk of court, the special prosecutors pursuing the case against Paxton will also present additional information about why they think his trials should be moved out of Collin County, where the attorney general has lived and worked for decades.

The part of the hearing dealing with Paxton's motion to dismiss will be closed to the media because they will discuss grand jury issues, which are typically kept secret, the clerk confirmed. The Dallas Morning News will be there with live coverage of the portion that is open to the public.

Wednesday's hearing is the latest development in a court case that dates to July 2015, when Paxton was indicted on two first-degree and one third-degree count of securities fraud. The federal government also lobbed related civil charges against Paxton, which he beat for a second time earlier this year.
