The Obama administration funneled billions of dollars to activist organizations through a Department of Justice slush fund scheme, according to congressional investigators.

“It’s clear partisan politics played a role in the illicit actions that were made,” Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, told Fox News. “The DOJ is the last place this should have occurred.”

Findings spearheaded by the House Judiciary Committee point to a process shrouded in secrecy whereby monies were distributed to a labyrinth of nonprofit organizations involved with grass-roots activism.

“Advocates for big government and progressive power are using the Justice Department to extort money from corporations,” Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton told Fox News. “It’s a shakedown. It’s corrupt, pure and simple.”

There is a recent effort by Republicans to eliminate the practice, which many believe was widely abused during the Obama administration.

When big banks are sued by the government for discrimination or mortgage abuse, they can settle the cases by donating to third-party non-victims. The settlements do not specify how these third-party groups could use the windfall.

So far, investigators have accounted for $3 billion paid to “non-victim entities.”

Critics say banks are incentivized to donate the funds to non-profits rather than giving it to consumers.

“The underlying problem with the slush funds is we don’t know exactly where the money is going,” Ted Franks, director of The Competitive Enterprise Institute Center for Class Action Fairness, told Fox News. “Using enforcement authority to go after corporate defendants, DOJ bureaucrats are taking billions away from taxpayers to fund their pet projects overriding congressional preferences.”

The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Here lies in honored glory an American soldier, known but to God

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
This is where the Trump admin needs to go after the players involved. Get convictions for all those around Obama, and send a message he could be next, if he wants to keep running his shadow insurgency from behind closed doors.

It should end today!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

More winning.   Maybe Sessions can recommend some restitution for the parties damaged under Obama.

This is big news, or should be. But DOJ won't be the only agency feeding money to subversive groups.

The EPA should get some serious scrutiny along the same lines.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Trump and Sessions are brash enough to put these people in jail.

It works for me. Not only have they hijacked science and damaged the reputation of scientists in general, they have perpetuated scams that will linger in textbooks and publications for decades. And that does not consider the damage they have done to corporations and countless individuals, sometimes by direct action, and some of which will persist as a hazard for decades as well.

I am going to say something 'negative'  about Ivanka and Jared.  They are eco-wackos

Saw somewhere where 300 scientists have signed a paper stating the CO2 is helpful to vegetation growth and not a pollutant.  So these voices need to be amplified AS PART OF THE COST of funding bogus science.

So unless someone can come up with ontological certitude that Sessions is an Axe murderer, lets focus our energy on advancing conservatism.

Got to be the biggest and longest running scam in the history of man!  With the possible exception of Social Security that is!  They put Bernie Madoff for doing privately the exact same thing the government has been doing for a LONG time now!

The anti-Kyoto petition goes way back, we've been aware of the scam, and at the very least the UNsettled nature of the scientific arguments (which, with time and exposure of chicanery on the part of the warmists increasingly lean toward debunking the idea that there is any significant human contribution to global warming through carbon emissions and the use of "fossil fuels").  We all like clean air, to be able to see the view to the horizon or intervening objects, but gutting industry with unfair regulations, and placing some countries at an economic disadvantage with patchwork regulations is wrong, and it won't change what will exist anyway. Better to retain the industrial ability to cope with whatever challenges come our way than to abandon it and suffer the vagaries of nature.

Social Security might have worked, if the money hadn't been looted to buy votes with other programs. But when you strip the account dry, nothing, no matter how lucrative, will run in the black.

They should either be clearing the smokescreen away, or using it to get things done. If the Dems want to howl about one thing, do something else that will yank them off base.

They are scared of him? That is behind most attacks.

Most 'players' in DC are 'poor players strutting and fretting their hour upon the stage, full of sound and fury and signifying nothing.'

The ones who are a threat are the ones who will be attacked the most.

Because he is an honest man? In fact, his early endorsement of Trump carried a lot of weight for me. It took me a while to abandon my "Never" position, but I did it.

It's now or never.  If not now, while the GOP has control of all three branches, it will be never.  I'm betting never (but hoping for the now).

I hope so.  They will be trashed whatever they do ... they might as well do some good.

Nice to see a positive thread.  I went on way too many threads started by Weird today and it seemed like TBR had almost become a reverse image of Free Republic, as in anyone agree with Trump about anything was brutally trashed.
