Relates to granting authority to carry a firearm to an unlicensed person who otherwise meets certain requirements for a handgun license and to related certain criminal offenses.

Rep. James White has served in the Texas House for many years with an excellent voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Also, Thank you's to Terry Holcomb, founder of Texas Carry.  Holcomb was elected to the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) last summer.  The Republican Party added constitutional carry to its platform and went on to announce the issue as a top priority for the 2017 session.

TSRA fully supports Rep. James White and the next step toward full restoration of gun rights for Texans.

Texans lost the right to carry a handgun with few exceptions in the 1870s when Texas was still under Union control.  The passage of SB 60 by Sen. Jerry Patterson in 1995 was the first step toward recovering the right to possession of a handgun.  There have been many additional steps over the past 10 years, including streamlining the handgun license, carrying in your vehicle without a license, and licensed open carry.

Kudo's also to the Texas Legislature and Lt. Governor Patrick for taking-on the removal of the fee to the state for the License to Carry.  This is definitely a major step in the right direction.

Support for the passage of Constitutional Carry is mounting and TSRA is working with other grassroots groups to get the job done.
