No Governor should have that power. Definitely not something that should be possible on a whim without some sort of process.

They take an oath to uphold and defend the laws of the state...if they fail to do that they should be removed.

Funny thing was...he was talking about the rain falling at the time.

Yeah, unfortunately he wasn't.   **nononono*

I'm not sure I understand your argument.  Can you expand?

Yup. He was actually talking to his ranch hands down in Alpine and an AP reporter tagging along overhead him say it and reported it.

It wasn't just his ranch hands and one reporter.  There were campaign workers and other reporters there at the time.  They had gathered to watch some cattle roping.  His comment was in response to the reporters getting restless with the rainy morning.

Did you even read the comment?  There is a BILL, which is created by the legislature that does indeed have the power.  They can both delegate their power or take it away at any time.  Does that qualify as a 'process' in your jargon?

If they wish to delegate, they certainly can as the way this country works the state is the final authority in all things absent a few that the states collectively have delegated to the federal government or cities within the state jurisdiction.

I am suspicious that you have nonsensical notion of an arbitrary Executive head of Texas who can rule at whim, and am really projecting at another at a federal level mentioned frequently in these threads.

That's what prompted the comment.

Rain was falling and he compared it to rape.

The way the local paper reported it (Midland Reporter-Telegram) was that it was one AP reporter tagging along while Williams was out herding cattle at his ranch in Alpine.

No single person should have that unilateral authority without some kind of process.

I was responding to @Victoria33 's comment where she says Gov Abbott wants it retroactive so he can remove her now. Like I said, He should not be able to remove anyone, especially immediately. So that was the context of my post.

That is no basis to respond.  Legislature has authority to remove and can delegate.

@geronl

There is likely a public danger clause in this bill that will allow Abbott to remove her.

The Libs in Austin will rise up and protect her like an unborn fetus.

Oh wait.  Bad analogy.

Get off your high horse and try to have a reasonable conversation. I posted to you and you have failed to respond,

If you don't want to, just come out say it without the blather.
