Key Judgments

Russian efforts to influence the 2016 US presidential election represent the most recent expression of Moscow’s longstanding desire to undermine the US-led liberal democratic order, but these activities demonstrated a significant escalation in directness, level of activity, and scope of effort compared to previous operations. We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these judgments.

This isn't over.

While it does say that hacking didn't affect the outcome of the election, there was hacking directed at elections and it was only one facet of a many faceted attack on American sovereignty, our constitution and form of governance. Russia launched the single largest attack of this kind ever seen against the USA using mass media like youtube channels various websites, trolls and trollbots etc.

People want to whine that pushing back against Russia will start a cold war. Well they better open their eyes because Russia is fighting a cold war against us and we've been retreating for far too long.

It sure is convenient that we now have a president elect who wants to snuggle up to Russia and a fan base who now want the same.

Oh really? All because the CIA THINKS Guccifer was more than one person and a TV channel no one watches (Russia Today) attacked Hitlary. Strong argument you got there.

BTW, if RT really is so dangerous, why isn't it being shut down here in the US and it's people being arrested for crimes against the state?

And then there is wikileaks who ironically suddenly decided they don't like leaks after all the classified material they've handed out like candy.

And a few hours later their activist wing starts threatening to expose verified accounts which tend to be celebrities, politicians, and journalists.
