Everytime I bemoan "the air hurting my face," I think of a former boss who had spent time in Guam. He told me about all the creepy-crawlies that populated his home there. It's 11 degrees out where I live, and that's okay with me.

Same here.  The snow is coming down outside fast and thick, but I'll take it over summertime with its bugs any day.  Snakes and lizards don't bother me, but I consider fall and winter to be my respite from insect life.

Me neither. Now when its hot, you don't have to worry about snakes. They'll be down in their in their burrows. Its only when it cools off in the evening that you have to look out.

Now when its cold, that's another matter.

One winter, when I was just a kid, my dad was walking past my bedroom, in time to see the tail of the big king snake that had slithered into my bed to get warm. I remember him getting me up. And I was standing there half asleep as he was beating my bed with an axe handle. It sure woke me up though, when I saw that big black king snake zoom out from under the covers.

No sir. I'll take the heat any day.

The only snakes that bother me are the two legged kind. I'm not much on spiders after I got all bit up a few years ago--I'll carry the scars from that for the rest of my life.

What I really don't miss in the winter are the mosquitoes.
