Facebook Live attack: Four held in Chicago

Four people have been arrested in the US city of Chicago over a video live-streamed on Facebook, in which a bound and gagged man was assaulted.

The man being assaulted has special needs, police say. His assailants can be heard making derogatory statements against white people and President-elect Donald Trump.

In one part of the video they use a knife to remove part of his scalp.

Chicago law enforcement officials were reluctant to call the videotaped torture of a white man by black assailants a hate crime Wednesday night — even though the suspects repeatedly said “bleep white people” as they attacked their victim.

Video emerged Wednesday of an unidentified white man — bound and gagged — being beaten, cut and berated by four African-Americans. One assailant yelled “bleep Donald Trump! bleep white people!” as he kicked the man. Another video showed the suspects forcing the white male to drink toilet water as they laugh hysterically. So posting conservative memes and comments offends the powers-that-be at Facebook, but not the torture of a "special needs" white guy by four black criminals. 

On Tuesday, the shocking 30 minute video showing the beating and torture of the man was live streamed on Facebook from Brittany Herring’s account. In the video, the four attackers are heard yelling “bleep Donald Trump. bleep white people” while assaulting the man, forcing him to drink toilet water. At one point in the video, the attackers used a knife to cut off the man’s clothing. It is being reported that the man was held hostage between 24-48 hours.

But doesn't violate FB "standards."

Warning: Readers may find some of the language used by the alleged suspects of violent crime disturbing.

On the Wednesday network evening newscasts, ABC’s World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News failed to inform their viewers of an incredibly disturbing alleged beating in Chicago of a developmentally challenged white man by four African-American suspects that was streamed live on Facebook.

The torturing session saw the man (who previously had been reported missing) being bound with tape and bloodied from cuts to his scalp as the suspects laughed at him and shouted “bleep Trump” and “bleep white people.”

With ABC and NBC choosing to keep their audiences in the dark on this (at least until Thursday morning), the CBS Evening News was the lone network left to cover it. However, fill-in anchor Josh Elliott could only muster a 27-second news brief that only vaguely described the situation.

Chicago Priest Will Not Wait for the Police to Stop Murders, Places Bounties On Killers’ Heads

A Catholic priest has taken it upon himself to address Chicago’s rampant violence by setting bounties on killers’ heads.

In a Jan. 1 “60 Minutes” profile, Chicago’s Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church on the South Side told reporters that he is no longer looking for a savior to end the city’s homicides. Instead, he is inspiring others to report people and information to deliver justice to the victims of the senseless murders.

“When a child is shot and killed in this city, on the South Side, in particular, and there’s no idea of who may have done it, I put a $5,000 bounty on the head,” Pfleger tells “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker. “We’ve given out about 24 rewards over the last 10 years. I have 12 out right now.”

The city of Chicago has historically been plagued by high rates of violence stemming from systematic housing discrimination, closing schools, gang activity and high unemployment. But 2016 was one of worst years in nearly two decades. At last count, there were 762 murders, 3,550 shooting incidents and 4,331 shooting victims, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

There is a relatively easy (and probably unconstitutional) way to cut down on all the killings. (1) Establish a curfew for black and Hispanic teens from 6 am to 6 pm and (2) establish stop and frisk laws for the same ethnicities.  Stopping and frisking would include those sorts riding in their cars.
It's probably unconstitutional, but that would cut down on the murder rate drastically.
Obviously, that law will never be passed. The ACLU and the other usual suspects will howl to the moon about the "rights" of the future killers. And the killings will go on while the liberals wring their hands and wonder how to stop white people from buying guns.

Naming the problem is the first step. The most violent cities in the world are not caused by white culture.

Whites in private and public programs, have tried to "help" these people for decades, with $ trillions of funds.

They were saying on fox that the fact, this person was a "special needs" person, forget about being white for a moment, could also play a part in making "hate crime" charges.

So worth considering is that it's not just a "hate crime" because he's white and the culprits are black apparently, this other is a possibility.

Ed Morrissey covered the disturbing video showing four people torturing a mentally-challenged man earlier today. He wrote at the time “If we are to have ‘hate crimes,’ then this clearly falls within that classification.” Now the four individuals who were arrested have been charged with hate crimes and other charges. From NBC5 Chicago:

Jordan Hill, 18, of Carpentersville; Tesfaye Cooper, 18, of Chicago; Brittany Covington, 18, of Chicago; and Tanishia Covington, 24, of Chicago, were each charged with aggravated kidnapping, hate crime, aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Hill, Cooper and Brittany Covington also face charges of residential burglary. Hill was also charged with robbery.

Police Cmdr. Kevin Duffin had earlier said he wasn’t sure if the kidnapping and torture represented a hate crime. From the Associated Press:

Asked Wednesday about the racial comments on the video, Duffin said the four people in custody were “young adults, and they make stupid decisions.”

When considering a potential hate crime charge, investigators will have to determine whether the racial remarks were “sincere or just stupid ranting and raving,” Duffin said.

A city of Chicago web page devoted to hate crime victim assistance says a hate crime is an act of bigotry based on a number of factors including “physical or mental disability.” So even if police believe the motive here was about the victim’s disability, rather than his race, it would seem they still have cause to judge this a hate crime.

The victim is said to be traumatized by his ordeal. His parents had dropped him off at a McDonalds on Saturday where the 18-year-old was to meet a friend. He was reported missing by his parents on Monday and found wandering the streets on Tuesday. He eventually led police back to the scene of the crime. NBC5 reports the kidnappers were texting the man’s family during the incident:

Police said the suspects had been sending the victim’s parents text messages while holding him hostage.

“This is going to affect him for probably the rest of his life,” the teen’s grandmother said.

There’s no indication what was in those text messages. Were they hoping to ransom the victim or simply trying to terrorize his family?
