Mormon Tabernacle Choir Singer Quits Over Trump

A singer in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has resigned over the renowned group’s decision to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremonies next month. The choir’s acceptance of the invitation to perform  has caused widespread debate among Mormons, with petitions urging the church to reconsider its presence at the event, which would be optional for its singers. “Since ‘the announcement,’ I have spent several sleepless nights and days in turmoil and agony. I have reflected carefully on both sides of the issue, prayed a lot, talked with family and friends, and searched my soul,” Jan Chamberlin said in a resignation letter to the preeminent choir for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She posted on Facebook: “I could never look myself in the mirror again with self-respect.”

I respect their right to dot his...BUT...   funny how "conservatives" performed for the big "0", but now have a problem with Trump.

It might be that sexual predator thing he does that makes the difference.

Yeah, but she makes the headlines, in #nevertrumper circles.

(Maybe renowned #nevertrumper media star Glenn Beck suggested she could get into the news with this)

All of these stories (including the ones about celebrities who threaten to leave the country) make me  :yawn2:. I'm not thrilled about him, either, but please just grow up, people!

What “conservative” performers (aside from some of the members of military bands who I presume didn’t have a choice) performed at either of Obama’s inaugurations?

It is a free country (still) and she as the right to resign from the choir if that is what her conscious tells her.

I personally wouldn’t see performing at the inauguration as performing for a politician or for the person taking the oath of office of POTUS, but rather as performing for the Nation and out of respect for the Office.

Then again IMO the US Presidential Inauguration shouldn’t be a “star studded”, Hollywood choreographed event and shouldn’t take on the airs of a coronation -  a simple playing of the National Anthem by a military band and perhaps a patriotic song sung by a choir – military or other, should suffice.

If you are this mentally unbalanced that you lose sleep over singing at Donny's inauguration, you have far deeper issues than with who is going to be President. This broad probably has the vapors and fainting spells over off color bumper stickers.

Then why do Christian bakers get a fine for not baking a cake for some gays?

Our great legacy. Poptops and disposable diapers. Millions of future generations are going to blow out a flip-flop on a poptop and then step in a pile of ancient baby crap.

There is a "singing to the choir" joke in here somewhere.  ^-^

It really tickles me the way you keep using "NeverTrumper" as though it were an indicator of character defect.

You're still resistant to the simple truth that every citizen's vote belongs solely to him or her; support for a candidate other than the one you happened to choose is not a personal shortcoming.

I'm not sure dedicated Trump supporters actually believe in freedom of thought, @CatherineofAragon .  There's no indication of that with a few of them here....... in particular this claimer of truth seeking.

I'm actually surprised he didn't take a swipe at this horrible forum that he despises (while curiously continuing to post on it on a regular basis).

It's a rare post where he doesn't take a gratuitous swipe at this free thinking forum.

@dfwgator, my friend, with all respect, I wish we could avoid posting tired old JimRob-inspired Freeperisms here.  He posts that meme on every zot celebration thread.
