Interesting. A lot of talk lately about Verizon buying up old internet powerhouses (AOL last year, Yahoo pending). Now they are selling off parts of companies they don't need at what it seems to be, a nice profit. Most of these centers were purchased as part of the Terremark deal for $1.4 Billion and they are flipping them for $3.6 Billion (after keeping what they needed from Terremark). Not bad.
Verizon Communications Inc VZ.N , the No. 1 USA wireless carrier, is selling 29 data centers to Equinix Inc EQIX.O for $3.6 billion, as the telecom giant focuses on its core business. Its 24 new sites will be spread across 15 metro areas in the USA and Latin America, with the deal expanding its existing presence in some areas and opening the door to a handful of completely new markets, namely Bogotá, Culpeper, and Houston....
