All Events for Mike Pence Have Been Canceled According to Donald Trump’s Campaign Site

    The call for Trump to drop out, and let him be replaced by Mike Pence have been echoing throughout the news cycle all day, with the call originating from within the GOP itself. People like Ben Sasse, Carly Fiorina, and more have pulled back any support for the candidate, and instead suggested that Trump's running mate be put in his stead as Hillary's primary opponent.

After today's events, even Pence had to distance himself from Trump's comments.

Since the suggestion began arising, some rumors of planning have begun within the GOP to make room for something like this to happen. Neil Stevens points out that all Reince would need to replace Trump with Pence is a pen and a phone.

There is some nonsense in the GOP rules where the state parties act as a convention and install a new nominee. As for the early voting, it may be the same at voting for a dead guy. You vote for the stiff, but everyone knows who will do the job.

My fascinating elections in US history were 1824 and 1876. Wonder if this will turn into the latter.


The 1876 Tilden-Hayes election was probably the worst election in US history, the crisis went on for months, and it was the closest the country ever came to an actual second civil war (a real one, not what chicken little Freepers advocate). In the end it was only settled with a compromise that involved the North withdrawing troops from the South.

Presidential terms are set by the Constitution, Congress has no authority to give any POTUS an additional 30 seconds.
