I don't know about this happening but I assume there were thousands there - how could one baby crying make a difference? We go to a Catholic Church and sometimes a baby cries during the service. Our pastor usually says, "There is another church member". We like babies, I guess he doesn't.
My parents told me about the time they were at Mass when I was just a little baby.
I got fussy and was crying a bit and my mother got up to take me out of the church.
The priest, Father John, stopped in the middle of the Liturgy and according to my parents said, “Mrs. M. Why are you leaving?”
My mother said that she said, “well the baby is crying and I didn’t want her to disturb you or anyone else” and Father John said, “Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such.”
Then he said, “I do not think that Our Lord would be offended by the crying of such a sweet and innocent baby. So she cries, and so did we all as babies. Let her stay and let her hear the Word and let everyone here rejoice and hear the sound of what must be music to Our Lord – a sweet, innocent and a beautiful child of God.”
My mother said that I stopped crying and broke out in a big smile.
